HeliJive 120+ HV with 7 blinks
Hi all,
I have a Heli Jive 120+ HV that died on me couple of days ago. At the first spoolup of the day it just cut off and started blinking 3 blinks (Motor inductance too small. Change the motor.) I could not get it initialized at the field but at home it did initialize normally. So the next day again at the field it initialized but always cut off during spoolup without blades with 3 blinks. After a while while trying to figure out what is going on it started blinking 7 times (Reversal polarity detected. Please send ESC for service.) and I'm 100% posititive (pun intented) that I did not connect power reversed at any time as it's kinda hard with EC5 connectors. After that I have not been able to get anything else than 7 blinks out of it with or without motor or with another motor. The original motor seems to work with another ESC. I can get in to programming mode and I have done mode 1 reset couple of times but it does not help. The ESC has been bought sometime 2011 and I'm the second owner so I suppose the warranty won't cover any of this. Anything I could try to get it running or just accept my fate and bin it? |

If it's in warranty send it back if not it's dead. I had exactly the same scenario. Apparently there is a sensitive component ?diode that picks up reverse polarity and blows, irreversibly, incapacitating the unit. This is done to prevent fire, KT go to extreme lengths to avoid the CC experience. Unfortunately the same effect can occur with a voltage spike or back emf send it to KT anyway and if it's out of warranty they may offer you a discount on a new purchase. I prefer the Kosmik over the HJ and PJ as they are designed to be repairable.
