Default HeliJive AR timeout?

So how long does it take to auto?

The AR timeout is set at 15 seconds and then goes back to soft start mode.

I have tended to take the approach of why turn off a perfectly functioning engine / motor and don't do autos but having got a good price on the HeliJive I have set it up with AR and may start to have a go.

So in general is 15 seconds a long time in an auto or should I know before the 15 seconds is up that I am not going to need to bail out?

From about 60-70m above the deck your bird will be on the deck way before the AR timeout has been reached. I've a timer set on my 14sg that counts down from 10s when I start my auto approach...still practicing...within 7s I'm already over the pad at a height of 1.5m.

You'll be very surprised, as I was, just how fast they happen.

The HJ AR bailout time is sufficient, unless of course you're starting from a low earth orbit

Ya, none of mine will be over 15s. Most I usually do from a couple hundred feet and from switch to touch down are probably sub 10 seconds, even on a 700.

I would say you'll know if you need to bail well within 15 seconds. And once you do start shooting auto's you'll be hooked.
Me and a flying bud spent the better half of an afternoon doing just AR's for entire length of flight. Probably racked up 300 between us, very fun and long fight time when you are on HOLD for half the flight.

Thanks guys. I am at a club and quite a few finish their flights with autos but I never thought to time them. Also none of them have a Heli Jive and so I just wondered if the 15 seconds was too short. Clearly not.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained... roll on the weekend.

It's quite a rush the first time you intentionally hit TH...be prepared for a sudden loss in altitude and take a change of shorts
