I have just over 50k miles on mine. I have ridden through sun, wind, rain and snow on this bike. She has been a great ride.
Well after some bad times. I am starting to feel better. I have thought about flying again. I have not flown or even touched a RC aircraft this year. So weather is getting better and it is time to fly. Dru. |

Finally!!!!
I have a few minutes to think and say thanks to the best Helifreak out there. Kevin sent me a complete plus lots and lots of parts Cypher. I have not had the time to do an inventory, but DAMN I have a lot of parts now :0 Full built up frame, complete tail, complete rotor head, spare main shafts, blades (lots) motor (2), ESC. Full box of stuff and a smaller box crammed with little parts. I see pinion gears, tail parts, mixing arms and the list goes on and on. Kevin sent this for no reason other then to make some one VERY happy. I did not ask him to do this. He just picked me and mailed it all out on HIS dime. In all of the threads I have read online about everything, no on and I mean NO ONE!!!! has done something like this. Sure there have been requests for help and they received it. Yet Kevin did this on his own. I can not thank Kevin enough for his generosity in giving me all of this Cypher stuff. I do hope and believe that good things will happen for Kevin in the future. As soon as I get Mom out of the hospital, I will take some pictures and post them here. Thanks Kevin!!!! Dru. |

Well she is a lot better today. She is up and walking. I do not think that is to bad after having 3 1/2 hours of surgery on Monday to remove 1/2 of her right lung. She is a strong 81 years old. She should be able to come home on Friday.
I am hopeful I can tear into the box of goodies this weekend. Hard when I leave the house at 6:00am and get home at around 8:00pm. Dru. |

Dru, I hope your Mom gets well very soon. She sounds like a tough ol' gal. That's a lot to go thru for someone her age!
Kevin what you've done for Dru is THE nicest thing I've heard anyone do in a long time. You Sir, have a very big heart. It's nice to see there are still good people in this world. I salute you! Chris |

Chris, have you ever noticed the ones that are "TRUE" never brag and always down play what they did? Kevin is one of the "TRUE" people out there. He says it is no big deal, yet it is a big deal to me
There are a lot of people I deal with that could learn a lot from Kevin. I am not sure if you guys are into numbers. Here are a few of them about my Moms Surgery. It was Monday the 13th, 13 kids and grand kids showed up at the hospital that morning, she ended up in room 3113 at 1320pm. See 13 is a lucky number. Mom is at my brother house. My sister in law is a home care nurse with a wound care specialty. So she is in good hands. Depending on the weather tomorrow, I may fly something. Dru. |

To all the Dads out there, I wish you a very Happy Fathers Day! Hope you're flying..
Glad to hear your Mom is doing well and has good care at her disposal, Dru. That's wierd about the no. 13. And you're right about the good guys not needing to "toot their own horn" all the time. Actions speak much louder than words. My poor Cypher has been collecting dust so far this year. All my attention has been with my Compass Atom 500 and I'm starting the build of my Compass 6hv that I just bought. I think I've found the reason I've been having a hard time working into FF...Need LOTS of open space! I thought my "north 40" was big enough...well it is if you're an accomplished pilot, but I'm not [yet]. I went to an athletics field at the college I work at, and what a difference! I could actually "FLY"!! So exciting. It not the most graceful thing to watch, but I did it. I've been jazzed ever since. Just wanted to "toot my horn" a bit. Chris |

Ya , HAPPY DADS DAY to the DADS
Chris, i was in the same rut as you when it came to ff. once i went to the baseball feild it was a whole nother story. the open space gave me more freedom , i knew i could "bale out" with out hitting anything. it helped with ff, and nose in hovers.. since i went to the field it makes it easyr for me to do some slow flight at home in my yard now. though i must admit, since i got my new Harley i had to reduce to one heli.. so now i dont fly as much ( dont want to crash) i tried invert flips with my "spare" heli not long ago.. did ok till the landing, i guess landing on the head was a bad idea good luck and keep practising oh if anyone is interested in the 401, tail servo, esc,bec or motor from my "spare parts heli" let me know. i kinda want to keep them as spares but have a feeling i wont need them and could use the cash.

I am not a Dad, so I will say to all have a great day and enjoy being with your families.
Moving into FF is always rough. As you make turns it will always be hard to see and when you have limited space, makes it even harder. The Cypher is not easy to see either. Compared to my MX450SX, Diablo, it is very hard to see. The EXI I built was easy to see for some strange reason. I think the short height of the Cypher is the issue. Once you get good at FF then you can do it every where. I was doing it in the back yard of my sisters house. Very small backyard. Kevin, thanks again for the Cypher and all of the parts. I have also sent out the 13th letter to my family. That is something I did not know. So glad that all of the 13's were there. Chris, I think we agree Kevin is a GREAT GUY!!!! Dru. |

I use this tape from Helidirect http://helidirect.com/great-planes-striping-tape-fluorescent-red-p-20947.hdx i put it along my tail boom and down the out sides of my landing gear, also did the neon orange paint .. it helps
bad picture but you get the idea

You're right about heli size being a big factor. Cypher being in the 400 class, is harder to see than a 450. I tried colored tape [yellow] spiraled down the boom, painted the skids/struts various flourescent colors in an attempt to get better visability. Did help, but not alot. I think that's one of the reasons I'm flying my 500. It's huge compared to Cypher and much easier to see. But Dru's right, it's hard to see during a turn [between that and my graceful skills, LOL] but I think that'll get better with stick time. Really looking forward to getting my 600 together and in the air. Should be easier to see.
Head landings are never good, although I did see a vid once where a guy landed inverted on the button of the head and it was perfect. Amazing to see. Chris |

Well it has been a quick week. I have been busy getting stuff done around the house, even though it still looks like a tornado ran through it.
Mom is coming home today so I had to make a bunch of changes around here. Need to order the oxygen generators and spare tanks. She will be on that for a month or so, maybe longer. She only needs it at night when her breathing slows down. She is ready to get home too. She wants to get her plants, planted. Gives her something to do. Well back to your regularly scheduled program. P.S. I might get some flight time in today. Dru. |

I had 11 charged lipos ready for the afternoon. I was planning to fly some foam planes and the Cypher. Well after getting Mom all moved in, brother and Sister in law fed for lunch, it was time for them to leave. So I did not get to do any flying. The wind had come up, temps had come up, no fun flying in 94 degrees with 28 mph winds.

Hello all.
Looks like this thread is withering away. Just thought I would post in an attempt to revive it. It's a shame to see the Cypher going the way of the Concorde or Space Shuttle! I fly mine several times a week, if not every day. I live in AZ and have recently been flying in 110 degree heat, and sometimes get up at 4:30 to fly before it gets too hot. If anyone remembers, I was going to post my 4 bladed conversion a while ago, but had a vibration come up that led to a destructive rollover on the ground... so I got a little disheartened and went back to 2 bladed flybarred setup with Mavrikk Pro wide chord 325s for now. I will go back to the 4 bladed setup eventually, but I don't feel like fixing something that's not broken at the moment. I have a A109 fuselage that I eventually want to put on it, so that's why I want the 4 blades. I took a bunch of pictures to share with other Cypher owners of my current setup. I mentioned before that I don't have a single zip tie on my heli, and I have a unique component layout (from what I have seen). Any suggestions on where I can put them so I won't bother anyone or clutter up the forum? I am currently building a flybarless T-Rex 600E with a Funkey Bell 222 fuselage for my next project. I have another spare Cypher NIB I am thinking of building as well, so as long as they keep making parts, I'll keep flying them! Anyone else flying lately? |
