Single Rotor Experience
So excited to see so many people still using single rotors for AP. I have spent hours and hours and dollars and dollars to get smooth video. I'm finally there. I just have a cheap chinese brushless gimbal on a PS1 FMTS. I found that using oil in the shocks to make it stiffer was better than allowing alot of movement. What was weird is my 700 f3c blades with no skid shake and perfect visual tracking seemed to cause problems. My 800 blades have bad static coning, don't look tracked, but I have no skid shake and have great video. The last thing I did was get a gimbal cage labeled the WASP. That fixed all my slop in the yaw axis. I had the motors mounted directly before. STUPID. I'm also using a NAZA H with an RJX head. 1420-1450 is the sweet spot. 1500 and you start getting tiny high freq vibrations. I'm also using 2x6s 5800 Zippys, and a 10t pinion/112t main with the 700mx motor.
It seems no one really talks about AP anymore. I feel like either everyone has figured it out but me, no one wants to give their secrets away, or there is just no interest. Now I'm invovled in shooting a movie for the big screen. I'm doing it strictly for recreation......... |

I'm just now checking out my first gig. Rancher wants video and stills to sell with.
Hope he likes Gopro and my 10mp Leica. I'm not a production company. We'll see. On the topic of single rotors. Just for fun one day I turned off the helicommand. Just FBL. I found without the helicommand my reaction time needed to be at least twice as fast. With the helicommand it makes it a lot more fun with less adrenaline.

single rotor
Hi . I am glad to hear about single rotor helicams. I have 6 and more years in the job
spent a lot of money for my single rotor helicopter , days and nights to trimming gimbals and helicopters and now everything are on the garage. You spark me know to try with my Aericam front mount helicopter. I thing to change the front mount with a brusless gimbal . What will you advice me to buy an anti vibration mount and a gimbal for this monster ? I have to change the very tall landing skids . I will try . |

Check out what I have done with the 1/16" wire 7x7 stainless steel braid.
I first saw this done on a very expensive and heavy gimbal about 2 years ago, with heavier wire. In a last ditch effort to "try anything" I did this and it worked. I have since rearranged the wires some and am making a fixture for easy on and off so I can use the main camera as well. It will take more work and design but you can do it. A man mentioned that in the navy (radar op) they used wire rope assemblies on everything for vibration. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...=554422&page=4
