Default Side mount muffler

Got mine dried overnights and flew this evening. More power and 1/2 the noise as the black can. Also seems to accept needle changes more responsively than the previous mufler that didn't carbuerate as predictably. It also didn't loosen any

Good muffler, thanks.

Default Mounts cracking?

Have there been any reported issues with the mounts cracking?

Which mounts? On the rear mounted pipe or the side mounted pipe?

We've had 2 reports of the side mounted pipe cracking at the joint, both replaced by Zimmermann. He has suggested a rear brace of some kind, a strap if you will, bolted to the frames.

Default Rear mount

It's a rear mount, (NOT the one I bought new from you Chris, I haven't installed it yet) but a used one I took in a trade. Hairline fracture starting where the tab meets the cylinder. Just wondering if it is an inherent problem in this type of muffler (I've read where the MA muffler of this similar style has had cracking issues)

I am resurrecting this old thread to ask:

Am I right that the spark plug cannot be accessed with the rear Zimmerman muffler mounted in it's place?

Correct. You must remove the muffler, NOT the manifold, to access the plug.

I have someone local to me that apparently is in contact with them. I requested that they forward an order for 10 rear mount mufflers.

We'll see how far it goes...

If you can get them, I would like a side mount version.

They changed the side mount version, moving the stinger (exit pipe) forward to the point that it sticks out the side of the canopy...
