Default Awesome CL find

Observer EB. Camera guy bought it in 2004. He realized that he was in over his head, and never even got it put together. Engine has never run. 72mhz radio stuff will go, as will the gimbal. I'm going to make it into an Intrepid, though I'll save the observer parts just in case I ever want to switch it back. I'll start a thread on that when it happens. Plan on lots of questions once I get underway.

O

Hey Chris, are there different versions of this Observer? Someone mentioned an older non-EB in another thread. I'd like to pull the trigger on a parts order, but I want to make sure the stuff I order is going to work with what I already have here.

There are 4 versions;

Observer, Observer EB, Twin observer, Turbine Observer.

The original belt drive tail observer has been discontinued for a long time. Most parts are no longer available.

The Observer EB is the current version, with all parts available.

There is a belt with the one I bought, & it has a G230 engine. Lemme guess.... Not an EB after all? I didn't know another one existed. Can I buy "regular" Intrepid frames and build it up? How do I tell what I have?

Yes, you can convert it to an Intrepid Gasser, New frames (upper and lower), Clutch bell, TT drive system (front xmsn, TT, tail gear box, etc), some frame spacers, front end parts...

Appx $500 worth...

The G230 engine isn't a big performer, compared to the latest G26 engines. Good for sport flying, some aerobatics, etc.

Phew! I was worried that I had bought a boat anchor there for a minute. Looks like I'll need to gather a little more gold to get it done. I was on the fence, but I guess I'll run the 230 engine and flybar to get it flying. New engine & FBL can happen down the road.

Do you have a parts list, or is that my homework assignment?

Chris will get you fixed up. That is the basis of a solid machine.
