Default Break in procedure

Hey guys, just getting back into nitro again after many years of electrics. About to fire up my nx4 for the first time and break in the os37. What is the general consensus for break in now days? Idle for a little while, let it cool and then hover rich for a few tanks and slowly lean it out as temps come down as parts seat together? Maybe use about a half gallon or so for running it in?

I remember when these motors uses to be very picky, but it looks like now days with tighter machining tolerances they are much more forgiving for breaking in.

Also, I tune according to sound/throttle response and smoke, but I like to keep an eye on temps just in case. What temp range can these motors handle? Any temp I should try and keep under for run in? For normal flight I remember I used to like to stay under 220F but that was a while ago.

Thanks guys,

Keith

I usually only hover the first tank or so, you can fly it around during break in, just don't push it hard. I'll start to lean it out a little after about a half gallon, and start tuning for power after about a gallon or so.
