Default Detrum ESC cought fire

I had my Esky Belt CP in for a radio refit. During this time the technician from the hobby shop called to say my old ESC was faulty and would like to replace it. I gave the goahead without check what he was fitting.

Today I took the heli out for its 3rd flight with the new Futaba and had a big fail. As I transitioned to forward the ESC burst into flames and the motor quit with no time for an autorotation. The hard landing trashed my tail boom and tail box and shaft. When I called the hobby shop they just blew me off saying, "we'll you know electronics. We can't carry a warrantee on them". And that was that. Hobby parts in South Africa are very expensive due the an unfavorable Rand Dolar exchange rate so I'm dreading the repair bill.

Has anyone ells had a problem with the Detrum ESC?

Sorry to hear.

Yes, They ARE JUNK!
I learned a long time ago when I had one go nuclear, replaced it with the same one and within minutes had the same thing happen.

This is the culprit.

Stay far away from them.

Default Junk ESC

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback. I've installed a 40a Hobyking as it's all I could afford. Working well have burned through at least 20 batteries without an issue.
