Default TT 53 Question

I just ordered the TT 53 for a Hirobo SDX with the Hi-Flow pipe and will run CP 30% in it. Has all the problems been fixed (carb sticking, adding shims) etc? or should I be on the look out for certain problems?

I bought mine about 6 months ago and have not had any issues with it.
It will come with a couple of extra shims, and if you want to run 30% you may have to use them both, I did.. Sweet running motor, and not tuning issues to mention. The instructions say to start 3 turns out, but 21/2 are fine, with 3 turns I had a hell of a time keeping it running right at idle.

The shim thing could be a bunch of bunk, or maybe not. I tried all the combos. The final result was no shims and the redline pipe with 30 percent CoolPower. All runs great after I fiddled with the shims and an MP5 muffler forever and got nowhere. I even adjusted the middle needle. The Redline Pipe and the stock configuration as shipped in the box produces great power. If you add the shims, do so after trying to set it up without.
There was a post about the idea that the redline shipped already tuned for 30% and the other shims were replacements for the one in the motor. 1 for 15% 1 for 25% and the one that ships in the motor is for 30%. It's not a stacking order to get to 30%.

In my paper work that came with the motor it stated that the motor was set for 15% and to use the other 2 shims for 20 to 30% It's a test thing, since weather and altitudes are different, it allows you to tune the motor for where you are at. I tried mine stock, with 30% and it did not run well. I added the thinner of the 2 shims and it helped a little but not much. I used the last shim and this motor purrs..

Let me clarify... by "no shims" I mean I have only the shim in the head that shipped in the motor. I'm not running it shimless. ;-)

Thanks for all the info. I guess I will run it stock and see how it acts and then decide if I need to add shims. Thanks again.

Depends on the Fuel. Another local flyer was having problems with his using 30% Coolpower and added an extra shim. It's running real nice now.

I had one of their little 25 airplane engines in a high speed buzz bomb, and it ran like crap on 15% Cool power until I added a shim. Once I put the shim in the thing ran like a rocket. I think these motors are setup to run on lower nitro as many countries they sell in, nitro is hard to get or very expensive.
