Did you added a extra collar to hold the base hub up against the headblock?

Pictures, not yet. However, I did add some 2mm bolts through the washout arms that effectively locked the mixer base hub to the pins. The only non-MA parts that I used were these 2mm bolts. I don't have a proper measurement, I just kept filing them down until they were tight on the pins. I can try to get some pictures this afternoon, if I can figure out how to make close ups with my camera.

Here's a pic of the flipped over mixer hub. Sorry it took so long. Had to buy a cell phone so I could take this picture.

You *can* modify the FB head parts to make a swash driver but the Align 450pro driver works better. The modified head limits your pitch range and is likely to fall apart in flight.
The Tarot head won't work with the Furion grips/feathering shaft as it is modeled after the 450pro head which is wider than the Furion head. The G5 FBL block is an almost direct drop in replacement. No matter what MA says, don't expect them to ever produce any upgrades for the Furion 450. I've been working the Furion 450 fbl problem long enough that I no longer care who makes the parts, I just want a solution that works and works extremely well. That's why I designed my own frames and I'm working towards getting new grip arms made to remove the pitch range limitation. I've decided that getting a custom head block made isn't worth the cost when the G5 block works so well. |

explain likely to fall apart please. Do I just take your word for it, or is there some background for this information? The sky is likely to fall, so I better stay indoors!

Saw a FBL setup the other day flying great. Use a trex 450 swash driver. It fits, and works fine.

My modified swash driver fell apart because the assembly was never intended to be used that way. That was one reason why I chose to use the Align one.
Use yours at your own risk. |

Thanks. So far, mine is holding up; however, I have another Furion that I am going to convert as well, so I may try the Align swash driver as well.

I modified a stock head and flew it with the ar7200bx for a little bit. I then put on a RJX head designed for the trex 450 with the extreme titanium turnbuckles (perfect length with the head installed as low as possible on the main shaft) and it works great. a couple washers between the upper bearing block and anti-rotation guide space it out enough that the phasing arms don't rub. Plus the washout arms are integrated with the head block and all spare parts are available. I am very happy with this setup on my F450 and it flies like a much larger heli now. The modified stock head worked well, but this setup is much cleaner and sets quite a bit lower. Just my humble opinion.

How does the RJX head mount to the shaft? Does it clamp?

Has a Jesus bolt in the middle of the had block/shaft, and the bolts for the washout arms clamp each side down as well. Pretty cool design I think.

The blade holder control arm is blocking the view of the Jesus bolt and nut.

Uses the existing hole in the main shaft for the Jesus bolt?

Yes, and the rjx head has two bolt holes to chose from. I'm using the one that results in the lowest head height... So the highest hole on the head block. The little notch in the main shaft for the second bolt in the stock head is unused and covered by the rjx head block.

No worries. If you go this route and have any questions or issues send me a PM.

I'll be sure to do that. I've got a converted stock head and a stock flybarred head. I like the FBL so far, if I can just get the tail to calm down a little. I guess that's a problem with the Align 3g......that I got for a song and dance.

Just got an Align DFC FBL head to try on kne of my Furion 450's. I'll post pictures when I get my mainshafts in for the conversion. Having to have a hole drilled for the head block mounting.

Does the Mikado conversion not work?
My 450 has been rebuilt like new and just sitting on my desk while I fly my other FBL birds. Of course, since the RJX head has been verified to fit and is half the price, perhaps the Mikado question is a moot point!
