Are you running a fuel magne? I am back and forth on the header tank. I ordered a pushglo for mine. I also have a B6T and it looks like yours mounted up really well. I will have the sk540 too. Did you hard mount the sk540? What size lipo are you using with the B6T?

I just posted this in the RPM sensor thread,but figured there are lots of pics that may help others. I did opt for the header tank... Bobby runs one, so I figure its good enough for him, good enough for me! Plus knowing that I won't lean out the engine and have a little safety margin is always good. No fuel magnet.

Ok, here's what I did for the RPM sensor. I used 2 of the brass inserts from an old Trex500 pitch slider tail I had laying around. I used a washer on each side of the frame and a washer on the sensor itself. Trickiest part was lining everything up and then tightening down on the bolts.





For the header tank, I used the two smaller spacers and this gave me enough clearance to run the tail servo linkage between the main tank and the header tank. I then cut out a piece of foam and taped it between the tanks to provide some support.





Other side...

I used an electronics mount on this side to install a satellite. The other satellite is in the back over the boom block.

You'll notice that the throttle servo linkage is not level. If you install the servo per the book with the horn closer to the top of the heli, then you have to put the ball link way low on the servo horn so it will be level with the horn on the carb... however, this gives it too much throw and there is not enough resolution for the vbar. By installing a shorter servo horn, you can use most of the stick... I think I ended up with 84% of max throttle on the vbar and -115% per the combined mode instructions to get full travel from fully closed throttle to max throttle.



I liked the advice of installing a filter between the muffler line and the tank. This is a 2-way filter and is very low restriction. I also installed that shut-off valve and used it to pressure test my tanks. I closed it and then started pumping fuel into the tanks using my electric pump.... soon after the header tank filled up, the pump started choking! I released the pressure by opening up the clamp and all was fine... so pressure test passed.



Novak tape is your friend for securing those connections to the FBL controller!


I managed to get the little engine started today and ran it for a couple of minutes. Starting it isn't a problem, or even idling it, but once I move the collective a bit, it stalls. I have the needle set to 1.5 turns per the book... so I may have a fuel supply issue that I'll work out tomorrow.

American video here! LOL... I'm still bogging it on tic tocs and rainbows. I've decreased my collective from 13 to 12 and my top head speed down to 2650... hopefully that will help.

This video is using the old settings (13 pitch, 2700RPM headspeed, 1.25 turns on the needle).

JC In your photos I dont see a fuel filter or a filler line. I was curious if you just filter through your fuel jug? What about a filer line? I like the looks very clean.

Nicely done Simon! I would turn the skids around because this heli is quite tail heavy and turning them around helps prevent it from tilting backwards. Don't forget your pipe deflector too! Best of luck with the maiden.

Also, you may want to move the header forward for better CoG.

If I move the tank forwards it catches on the canopy, so I thought I'd try it there first (seems a shame to not use all the brackets). It would have been nice to have had an exhaust deflector in the kit

Will have a think about the skids, I really don't like seeing models with them on backwards. I know some prefer it, but to me it just looks wrong.

Will not be able to fly again till next weekend, will post back then.

Just looked at the header tank again and realised it would be better positioned just using some foam and tie wraps as others have already done. Shame as I could have bought a much cheaper header tank without all the anodised brackets

Oh well, they will get used a some point I'm sure.
