3 bladed sab urukay
Building a sab Urukay 3 bladed, this will be my second 3sx setup, not sure what to expect with 3sx setup on the 3 blade. Saw in the the video that Burt said that the cyclic gain has to be turned all the way down. Any advise would be appreciated

i would not turn the cyclic gain all the way down. that would not be a fun flight....
the BD doesnt care how many blades you have. just be sure everything is PHYSICALLY phased correctly......

From the manual
ABOUT HPS3 SETUP 3 blade rotor heads require a much lower cyclic gain on flybarless systems. We recommend that you set your gain at least 30% lower than the gain you normally use on your 2 blade rotor head helicopters. You can start increasing the gain after you complete your first flight. Running too high of a gain can induce a violent oscillation that can potentially cause damage to your helicopter in flight. |

30% and all the way down are 2 totally different things.....my suggestion was not to turn your head gain all the way down......30% is probably going to be a decent gain for your heli.....

All the way down isn't gonna be that bad either if you already know how to fly its going to feel loose compared to that you normally used to from my experience when I accidentally had zero gains on a test flight once. Burt wouldn't say something on a video thats going to make helis crash imo.
On my Skookum 720 I accidentlly had not checked the box which says "lock cyclic gains" and I was not setup for bank switching so somehow I had zero gains across the cyclics even though the gain was set at 50% its just that it was not "locked in" So anyways I came off the ground with my 570 (which is much smaller and only 2 blades) and my god did it ever feel like shit, if felt like it was drunnk for lack of a better word, as though all the linkages and swashplate had tonnes of play. But if you already fly you weren't gonna crash it just felt really sloppy. Maybe on an Urukay with 3 blades it will not feel as bad but still not great I'm sure. Lesser of two evils probably the point is start with less than more. |
