sit tight.... there will be plenty for everyone!

Will there be spare parts in case of crash, or even something wicked like a "free-repair" Policy like Helicam has?..
you bet! every part will have a part number and will be available for sale on the web store. I'm not certain on the crash policy yet, but it is something I intend to push for.

By the way, where is the 20s YouTube video, 10s to detach the Pano-mount and 10s to add the other one (does that include the threadlock ?)
I'll demonstrate the procedure at the conference in Texas this weekend. You Tube video... good idea. Next time I go to the studio I'll shoot that.

DJ, does the pan lock when not shooting panos?

there is a one-way bearing in the pan hub for shooting panos. The reason behind the one-way bearing is to keep the pan servo from being overdriven by the helicopter torque during spoolup.

With the oblique tilt gimbal module the one-way bearing is bypassed allowing for panning in either clockwise or counterclockwise direction.

But you bring up an interesting point. I think I will design a "solo shooting" kit that will lock pan so that the panning is done with the tail rotor of the helicopter. That's how I do it when I shoot solo with my Logo.

Why can't you shoot solo panning the mount with the mount-pan-servo instead of using the tail rotor?

One flick of switch can activate both shutter and pan? correct?

I should clarify. The solo shooting option would be used when the mount is outfitted with the oblique tilt gimbal and the pilot is also the photog. it get's rather confusing flying solo if trying to pan the mount for framing. Better to fly the helicopter for pan and tilt the gimbal.

You are correct about pano shooting. I slave the trigger to pan and pull one switch on the transmitter.

Hello DJ,

seperate from the fact that I am interested in the equipment You are designing here, can You give a hint which equipment I should get myself to be able to do exactly as You write "use one switch on the transmitter to get the gimbal to pan and the shutter to start triggering"
I have seen some device once, but lost track of the link, would be interested to start getting one. If I understand correctly You split the Rx output to two devices and have one start 'shooting pictures' and the other 'turn the gimbal around'.
Can You give a link to these 'gadgets' / 'devices'.

Cheers,
Ruud

Ruud,

You just add a extra RX on the mount and do a mix on your TX.

Hello Rerazor,

I remember having seen a small device which can be used as a trigger, it had infra-red inside and was able to be programmed in a crazy amount of ways. i think i saw something like interval-o-meter inside, which will trigger each x msec. If I would use two of them one would be able to turn the gimbal a piece and stop and the other would shoot the 1st picture, immediately after that the gimbal would turn again etc. until I have 360 degrees.
I would rather not go for a seperate Rx. I'd like to have my 9channel Tx which I can give one or two channels of. If one is to be used for turn and shoot together it would be perfect.

You will need a seperate rx i think because if it turns 360° your cables will be all twisted around the mount... Or is there a other method?

I've considered making a kit that consists of two copper clad discs with copper traced concentric circles. One disc would have copper spring contacts that woudl ride on the other discs traces. Kinda like a big oversized potentiometer. Would be good for 3 channels (pan tilt trigger). This would remove the need for a separate RX and battery.

Easy to do using etched PCB board. If PhotoShip One sees merit in the idea it'll happen. I might make one for myself to try out.

Oh yeah please do it!!! especially with all the spektrum tx, as far as i know they can't connect to two recievers, so that would be god sent...
Would a unit like that be expensive?

Well to be honest i always assumed it because how would you bind to recievers to a spektrum?

That's a great looking option DJ! I've no doubt it'll be very popular!

Any chance you could put a vid together to show the swing dampening in action?

DJ,
Looks like it has 2 ways to tilt (up-down)? One controlled by servo, the other is self-leveling?
