Default TDRex - Trex based, TDR influences

Hi!
I got a few questions about my modified Trex 700, so I thought I'll take some pictures and post them here...

If you wanna see some more pictures have a look there: http://s795.photobucket.com/albums/y...view=slideshow

My configuration:

Scorpion HK5025-440kv (custom winded 5035 will be tested soon)
Align Mod 1 Slant Thread Main Drive Gear / 13T by Infinity http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/p...345a319ecf7781
Align Gov Sensor
Western Robotics Hercules SuperBEC
Hawk Fusion 120HV
VStabi 5.1 als Governor
12s 4Ah Turnigy 30c
RJX 90er 12mm Head, mounted on lower position of the Align main shaft

The idea behind this modification was to get the Henseleit TDR style but without some of the things I didn't like about that model. The frame was designed by a German.
The Align geare works quit well and the sound is great. I also tested a hearing bone gear, a in-flight failure of my one-way destroyed it. So I switched back...

Parts I've used are:
Henseleit TDR canopy and landing gear
RJX head and links, everything M3
Mikado servo arms and links
Align 700N main shaft bearing blocks
I'm currently running it using the VBar Governor which is really awesome!

Here's a video of the end of my first VBar Governor test... sorry not a very good quality a cell phone was used, but I like the sound:

Ah Klaus das ist sehr toll!

Thank you for sharing the photos.

Why did you not use the shape gear?

With the canopy on it looks like a TDR.

How is the vbar gov with that esc? Do you trust the esc?

Most of people say it's a Henseleit... but things like head, shorter boom and only one piece frame-side makes it easy to differentiate from the genuine
By now there's no real need for the Shape gear, let's see if the Align gear takes the power of a custom 5035
Timo Wendtland used the Fusion Hawk for some time now and it seams to work fine. The only question is if the VBar gov isn't too aggressive and produces too much current. If it fails, I'll replace it with a YGE giving me the option for a higher voltage setup
The VBar gov is really great... activate it and it flies better than without. Tail holds much better with activated Governor, swash seams to be more stable... and it holds really really well... in my opinion at least as good as a Jive, maybe a little bit more aggressive right out of the box. I like it

Very sweet looking bird! How do the electronics stay cool under that fully enclosed canopy? Besides the fan (btw where did you pick that up) on the rx pack, it would seem to me in a warm climate that the motor and esc temps would go through the roof.

Yes.... cooling is a problem. I used a 4225 first three flights which became really really hot. Outside temperature was around 5°C and you could see the hot air coming out between main shaft and canopy. Like chimney...
Things like vbar, WR Bec and receiver are in the back parts which get's fresh air because the canopy has a opening there. Only real problem is motor and Esc. I already thought about an opening on-top like it's done by Mikado with their Logo 600 canopy and perhaps one in front to get some fresh air in.
The fan is part of the Esc and temperature controlled -> http://www.fusion-rc.com/Default.asp...50-30,b:Fusion

Looks like a PowerJazz and perfectly fits the width of a TRex

just wondering but are you winding the 5035 : ) also what winding and wire are you using
I wound my 5035 with 5+5YY 1.8mm~13Awg 478Kv
so far have gotten 10kW and the align slant gear has taken it just fine with the 14t pinion
using CC + v bar gov

once you cut holes in the canopy you will noticed a huge difference, did that one mine and it dropped the temp of the esc significantly ( have it in the front)

good looking heli i like the direct to swash....... you maybe should have incorporated the 3rd bearing block tho.

I only did a test winding by now, but I read you're postings and it sounds like a good starting point for me. Only problem is time now... that's why I bought the 5025
About the third bearing... I already bought one, but the frame doesn't have enough material left, this will be part of the next upgrade session for sure!

No Suzi Hans use the Original Canopy and landing skits from the T 700.

This one is made from a german guy.

sorry to high jack the thread

Here are some pictures of an other version - called Suzi Janis TGD (Janis after my name)....

This one use 3 115 teeth maingear. Two for the motor so gearstripping should never be a problem again.
The 3rd one for an higher tail ratio of 4,79:1...
