It is a bit silent here, why is that?
Are you all flying or working or what?
All well?

Take this thread as some sort of place when you can post anything.
You know, all the off-topic stuff for which is no place in other threads.

Maybe all issues and problems are solved, so everyone is only eating, working and flying in the rest of day.
Except Mick of course, he is making ducks, err, ducts.

Moving house, traveling too much, getting as much flying in as possible...

Any of the above has been keeping me busy recently, so not too much time to hang out in here. Bummer.

That said, I did make sure the helis would have a place to be in my new office...
(Haven't sorted them all out yet, and one TDR is on loan to the Mick-Sonian Exhibit after a V-bar dirt-nap on Australian soil)

Just got my bits and pieces to complete my TDR upgrades! New head and tail for the 09 TDR, WR BEC, all HV servos etc etc.

Gonna fit them tonight and fly this weekend!

Been working a lot lately and getting my car tuned and a few small issues sorted.
I do not mind as weather has not been the best anyway so it was good to take a break from flying for 2 weeks.

Damn wedding planning, the cost i could have more helis than edvard!

Not much time to fly at the moment, too much work and the kids are now officially on summer vacation.

Random note: I'm still getting used to the 4530-LE motor. It turns out that I didn't shave enough metal off the intermediate bearing block so I have a nice stripe on the motor can.

Another random note: I finally got my DC UP from Fromeco and it seemed to work just fine. I plugged it into an open port on the V-Bar and it registers 6V (as expected) at the start of each flight, and after every flight the lowest voltage recorded was 5.8V.

I'm still waiting for my JLog2 so this is the only logging I can do at the moment. I have an "HV" EagleTree data logger but max current it will handle is 150A. I don't want to find out what happens if you go over 150A -- like I might do with the 4530 motor and TP 65/130C packs. Something tells me that if I used the EagleTree with the 4530, I'd get that magic smoke (and flames) that a lot of those CC guys seem to be having nowadays. BTW, I just saw another one go up in flames last week on a 700E right after takeoff... I don't get it.

I am interested in volt drop without DCUP vs with DCUP.

I would have thought with 1 farad on the DCUP you would not get any volt drop at all.

Damned impressive wall you have there!

Turn the tokoloschi the other way around!!

The nose of the airframe will take more abuse than the tail plane.

How do you like the performance of the 4530? What did you have in there before ?

I reckon you will find the current sensor will handle spikes of over twice the capacity.
the sensor is just a few electronic gizmos strapped around a big steel busbar that goes right the way through the unit. That busbar won't let any of its smoke out, worst case scenario it kills the logger but the heli will keep flying

I had similar worries with a 100A logger from Quanum but the manufacturers specs (not HK's) say it is good for up to 200A, and that is just the measurement side of it. The power to the ESC will always remain on.

Why people try to save $ on castle cremations ESC's is a bit beyond me.

You can use the Eagle Tree.
It is Hall sensor in there, so at 200A spike, it should just log 150A and do not burn.
Expect the numbers to be lower then from JLog.
I tried both together and where Eagle logged 92A, i think JLog spike was 110-120A.

I've been silent here for a while as I have not had a TDR since last year. My new 2011 is close to flying. All I need are cyclic servos (BLS 255HV) and I will be a TDR flyer again. I am really impressed with the changes Jan made from the 2009 version. I had also forgotten how slim the TDR is. It makes my Shape 9.0 look chubby J
