Default First NX4

so guys, i ordered my first nx4 yesterday. i wanted it so i can fly behind my office. a heli this size is perfect for throwing down an entire REAL flight in a small area. i love my X3, but i really love nitro

my main question. What gov are you guys using on this bird? my mini vbar doesnt have a gov, that sucks....i have a few GV1's laying around, but not sure i will have enough room to physically mount one on the heli.....i have an ikon unit too, but i am trying to stick with either VBar, or BD, those are the 2 units that i fly every day, so dont want to get used to a different feel....

ok, well i just saw that it is coming with the gaui gov, and this can be made to work with the mini vbar, right?

also will the rail 80.6mm tail blades fit on this bird, or are they too large?

If you mod the mini vbar to open aux channel output for the gov yes, but that will prob void the warranty of the vbar,
I modded one of my mini vbars in the past.

don't know about the tail blades. I still run the stock Gaui CF ones.

It's just a software mod (and only modifying the files, not the firmware), so I would doubt that it would void the warranty (I do NOT know this to be fact).

80mm tail blades fit but if you land on grass the tail blades get close to the ground.
I tried them and went to Edge 72mm instead.

can someone explain to me exactly what the gaui gov consists of, what it does, what it doesnt do, and what i would need to complete it?

the guy i bought this from found his gaui gov that he had purchased but never installed. he sent it with the heli. but i cannot find any clear explanation to the above.

please accept my apologies, i found the manual for the gov. i just didnt look in the correct place.....i wasnt being lazy, i really couldnt find it lol

so looks like it is a self contained gov, good deal. i thought it was just a sensor that still needed a gov to work.....dang newbies....dont they drive you nuts!

If you throw a X5 or X7 tail fin on the NX4 it will have more room between the ground and blades. All the X4, X4II, NX4, X5, and X7 fins have the exact same mounting holes and are interchangeable.

Thanks Dave

I haven't had any tail holding issues with the 72mm tails so I will probably stick with them for now.
The X4ii had some tail holding issues for a bit but my Vbar foo (Vbar tail tuning) has improved since then and they are also working great.

Congrats! You will love it. I am flying the Ikon on mine. Its excellent for nitro vibes. You can easily use the Align gov. sens. without modding anything. It works with the Ikon gov. Its plug and play on the Ikon port. I go through my Aux2 with a JR11x tx.

my ikon took a crap on me this weekend. the usb port fell out of it. i guess this was one of the ones in the bad batch.....since that happened, i will never use an Ikon again on anything. ever. no FLB should physically break that easily....none of them. so i am going with a mini vbar now and gaui gov....i really wish the min vbar had a nitro gov on it. and i hope the vibs are not too bad for the mini vbar and the older style sensor,

Default New to me NX4

Just picked up a very nice NX4 and a ton of spares from a fellow HeliFreaker
This is my first Gaui and I'm impressed. Going to burn a few gallons of nitro through it and then convert it to gasser.

man oh man! i got my ikon replaced finally, and got the needles very close on my motor this morning. this freaking heli is a beast to be so little! i mean a beast!

the guy who had this one before has the mixture screw an entire turn too far out (open - rich), no wonder i was lacking power! i reset the mixture screw per the manual, then tuned my high in this morning (still leaving it rich to be safe), and she has as much power as i could need out of a heli this size....very impressed.
