Default Futaba Servos... BLS 451, 351, 253, 255HV

Hi all. I'd like to get a little insight into the differences and recommendations for a 600-700 size cyclic servo. I understand that the 351 is higher torque, and the 255HV is high voltage, but otherwise, their specs are similar or identical. I've heard others talk about the varying robustness of the different gear trains or gear materials, but would like to know more. My main interest is in a servo that stays tight without developing backlash. I just got off the phone with Futaba tech support to try and get more information. Every time I've ever dealt with them, I seem to get the most disgruntled, unhappy, and unhelpful employee in the company. Frustrating to say the least.

I know Futaba makes great equipment, but there tech support leaves much to be desired, IHO. They remind me a bit of the Soup Nazi! Don't ask questions, just buy the product. The tech was really annoyed that I was asking about their servos. Oh well.

Jim Futaba Heli swash servos are Bls 252 F3C, 253 3D, 451s are car servos but used in helis with great results and 351s have more torque these are all lv servos, Hvs are 255, 272Sv,273SV,275Sv with sbus 2 options. 255s are being discontinued for the new Sbus 2 line of servos.

So what's the best option for low voltage cyclic servo ? I have a BLS251 for the tail. This will be on a Curtis Youngblood Ballistic 700 E.

Te best bang for the buck on low voltage servos in my opinion at the BLS451s. Now that being said many have used them as HV and seem to have no problem as well. I have personally flown them on them on 700s with great results.

I have been using a set of BLS451 servos on a 700 size helicopter for over 3 years have never had a problem. They have excellent performance. I once thought about going to HV but I am happy with 451’s so I will probably never upgrade that helicopter.

They were the first brushless servos that were used in helicopter and there are probably thousands in use today. I have them in a couple of 600 helicopters. They never ware out or I will probably be flying them for many more years.
