Futaba 9254 setup help.
Hey freaks, I'm finally getting around to plopping a full size servo on the tail after having tons of trouble with my ds3400g (mini), mainly unbeatable tail wag and I had a couple questions. I'm still flybar running a spartan quark, align 60a esc, stock motor and 6s 3000mah batts. The tail servo says it's only run at 4.8v so is there anything special I would need to make sure so it doesn't get fried? I doubt it but rather safe than sorry. Some say the 9254 can be run at 6v but I don't want to strain the servo.

If I had one of these not being used I'd send you one.
http://www.helidirect.com/western-ro...age-p-4665.hdx http://www.helidirect.com/align-51v-...tor-p-7099.hdx You might want to make a thread in the WTB section. Someone might have one for the cost of shipping since they are so cheap. |

Futaba 9254 setup help.
Think this is the same one (off of my 300x, but the wires are broke and i might just steal it
I guess I'll start the thread since I like tuning it on the ds76t just to make sure it doesn't fry

Hold the phone. That Align 60a should have a programmable bec output. You can choose from 5, 5.5, or 6v. So if you dont mind running your cyclic servos at 5.5v that might be an option.
FinlessBob did a great setup video for that esc. http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=...=step15esc.wmv |

Never messed with the esc but I'll look into that, I'd rather run 6v since currently the cyclic are not too fast servos so try to keep them as fast as possible....

Yah no duh that's what this hobby taught me but my iron too is pitted and melted away so I need to pick up a new one my luck i bought some tips and they were the wrong size That sounded weird I meant just the tip is bad... It's also disappointing since my x3 night setup was half complete when the tip wore out and just was too much work to solder anything

FWIW, my 9254 works on 5.5V off the YGE BEC. I also read a bit about the recommended voltage and got mixed info, but what I gathered is that the 4.8V comes from the nominal voltage of a 4 cell NiMH pack (4x1.2), which was used back in the time. Fully charged such a pack would have 6V, so I just run the servo without regulator. So far, so good, servo comes down cool, no ill effects.

All setup with a 5.1v reg and it flew great, the tail servo. Will have to mess with pitch and somehow make the cyclic feel less mushy. Currently I don't feel safe trying to 3d it

Yup, thanks to you I got my protos back in the air buuuuttt the cyclic feels like crap, I'll need to mess with pitch, it also cut throttle when I go to IU2 at 90% but works fine at 85% with 15t. Regardless it's not nearly enough pop for me and I need to work on it. So unfortunately for you I might not be going fbl for some time since I don't want to upgrade servos on this, not until my goblin 500 is done.

No worries. I was just after some spare flybar parts before they go extinct like everything else flybar related seems to be doing.

Definitely best looking, post a pic or two, I always wanted one just cause of how it looks. Almost bought one last year but didn't make the deal. Never saw one fly so can't comment on second part

Any flybar related parts you arent using and want to sell. I dont actually need any parts but these things arent going to be around forever. Send me a PM and let me know what you have and how much you want for it.
I never actually bought one but I remember hanging around the Gazaur heli section. That heli had personality and so did the pilots who owned them. Its a shame they didnt stick around. There were 2 versions, the Mars and The Poseidon. The Mars was a lightweight and sturdy, built for speed while the Poseidon was even lighter and built for extra low disc loading. They both had the option of G10 silver sided fiberglass which has all but disappeared from the heli market. Not sure why. |

Same I always loved the look of the Poseidon and how it handled itself, hey crickr1, whenever you decide to get rid of your Gauzars, I'd be happy to take one and outfit it with modern electrics just to see how nice it flies....
