tried another couple of flights this morning, collective mixing is now at 35, going to try 40 soon, seemed to help a lot , very small twitch on the way up, I think my batteries aren't strong enough for the pogo type move with the headspeed I am using but I don't do that one anyway, I think i'm very close now and going to have a go at the other 2 heli's .

=] high collective mix usually points to low tail blade authority, can you address that first?

i will have a look and see what blades I can get hold of. without stretching the x4ii I think the biggest I can go is 80mm.let me do some research. just out of curiosity is there an order to follow for the gov tuning. or is it just adjusting for various symptoms

The best way ever to tune the gov gain is to run a flat head speed first without the gov at all. Then dial in the tail gain first. Then enable the gov and tune it separately. You aren't fighting a mix anymore but can clearly define what the gov gain is doing.

what are your thoughts on me trying to tune the tail twitch with rudder gains and gov gains , could it be a different gain and i'm trying to mask it with the former two, I ask because on a podcast that I listened to yesterday this was their topic, they went into it fairly extensively and one of the questions was this very one, they put it down to main gain being too high, this was on a 700 size heli, but I was just curious , maybe i'm looking in the wrong place, also upping the head speed by a small amount can change things. its all very interesting, my heli flies brilliantly the only thing i'm trying to tune out is a bobble when doing tik toks and rainbows at the point where collective goes from one direction to the other.

i'm thinking of resetting all the parameters and starting fresh just to make sure i'm going in the right direction, keeping the original one saved of course.

=] Anthony hi, looks like a blades off run? the headspeeds are above your target with no stepped idle up's. and low collective.

the tail issue, I would say is coming from the low RH 76% setting? maybe!

hi Georgie, not fully understanding what you mean, but no this was a regular flight with some pitch pumps and piroflips at the beginning and then some sport flying after , if i'm reading it correctly the throttle in position looks wrong, I usually take of in normal and then go to iu1 after a couple of seconds and that's it until I hit th to land , I think I have my throttle governed at 2400 that looks about right in the graph and it also looks fairly consistent, could you please explain the graph a little as it looks ok to me but I don't know what i'm looking at and thank you for taking the time to help me understand what's going on

=] Anthony hi, try the tail as it is, to get a higher travel % the servo ball needs to go in, looks about 2 mm in your case.

what we seem to be unravelling here?, your collective range is working around mid stick for flight, this offers the lowest amount of collective mixing. either side of this increases the mixing, normally the stick would be at around 70-75%. check your stick scaling, collective range?

for the gov, I don't see the rpm increases like I would expect for 3 flight modes? compare to the sample pic =

please could you explain what you think is wrong, I'm not getting what you mean, in my last flight I only used normal and iu1 so I only used 2 throttle positions, do I need to do my setup again and what do I need to change to make it right.
Anthony
ps please type slowly as I can't read very quickly

so I tried going in one hole on the servo arm and I get centre 0.2 , L103.2 R118.8, whats better what I have now or my original numbers, I tried again today with the revised old tail and I still get the bobble in tik toks and consecutive flips, would these newer settings help. will I need to adjust my gains?

flew this morning with the revised tail geometry and I had to up the gain quite a bit from 39 to around 60 I believe, but the tail held well and I kept adjusting till the tail bounced to a stop, couldn't get it to wag so I assume this is good, tried some full power diving backward flight and the tail was solid funnels and hurricanes too no blowouts, I did manage to get it to blowout but think it was the head bogging, full collective climb out with full right aileron and once it got over the top the tail blew out about 90 degrees , I did it a couple of times and I heard the head speed drop so i'm not concerned. still have a bobble on tik toks which reduced with lower overall head gain so i'm going to try that tomorrow and see what happens. going to go to the lhs and see if they have any bigger tail blades also
