Default Show your downlink.

Here's mine. Double duty. I have a 2.4 Ghz Rx and a 900 Mhz Rx. 11.1v 3S2P, 4000ma total, for power. 7" LCD monitor. Small charger is for the 2.4 downlink . It has a built in Li-ion. Case was a discarded grinder case from a big-box store.
Foam at side of pic # 2 lays between halves to protect the LCD while transporting.

A digital camera's video-out is sent to a 'downlink' transmitter. What you see is my ground based receivers.
My airborn cameras are a Canon G9 and Canon A640. Both of these will give a 'live' preview at their video-out jack(at the expense of turning off the camera's display screen).
A cable runs from the jack to a small transmitter on the heli. The transmitter runs on a 900ma 3S lipo.

Why do some helis have those tiny spy cameras on them along with the main AP camera as a downlink?

Some cameras cannot 'do' video out in shooting mode for various reasons. D-SLR's for instance. So on some cameras the designer has placed a spycam either alongside the regular camera or actually lookng into the camera's viewfinder.

Mine is in a pelican. Made the lid mount myself, and its all removeable since its held in with dual lock, even the tripod mount. No sense in drilling holes in a waterproof case
I dont have a good close shot, so here is an old one...

Actual DSLR preview on LCD (hard to find 4:3 LCDs these days)

Actual photo from camera

Its a type of velco made by 3M, but both sides are the same. If you look closely at it, they look like long mushrooms, so when you press them together, they really stay. I use it everywhere instead of velcro. And usually, for things like Lipos, instead of lining up the strips, I make crosses or cut off some mushrooms because a whole strip will usually tear off the adhesive before the little hooks let go.

David's is awesome, and reminds me of my speaker box building days

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm .....

Just goes to show that even though something *looks* nice, doesn't mean for a second that it will work

Just after take off there was a MASSIVE vibration which shook the ball off its mounts (breaking a hole in the back .... fixable though I think), detaching both tail-boom supports, shaking the battery loose, and breaking the hot-glue holding the receiver battery and receiver to its mount ...... Looks like those Lord mounts aren't going to work for me after all :o Ah well, back to the drawing board

I think I will rigidly fix the mount to the frame and isolate the vibration just around the camera ..... *thinks*

David

PS. Onboard video to follow shortly ....
