Default Protos or Mini Protos?

I'm either gonna get one or the other..

Which one?

Protos

http://www.msh-direct.com/products/p...-msh51200.html

Or

Mini Protos

http://www.msh-direct.com/products/m...-msh41504.html

Servos:
Mks Ds93 cyclic
Mks Ds95i tail

I don't know which are the best or good servos for a 500 size heli?

Thanks!

I used these on my 500

tail servo here
http://www.msh-direct.com/products/d...-oz-in-6v.html

cyclic servos here
http://www.msh-direct.com/products/d...-oz-in-6v.html

others will voice their opinions also

that tail servo is lighting fast!

also the 500 will be more stable in the air then the 450 but its also quite a bit larger, depends on where you will fly it and how comfortable you are, i dont have personal experience with the mini protos but i can tell you my protos is ALOT quieter than my 300x and my 450

If I could only have one I would choose the P500. It's less fiddly to work on and flies better. Plus you already have a 450.

Those MKS servos are very good, one of the best you can get for the protos. But my Protos flies great with plain old Savox 1250s (same as align ds510) and an Align ds650.

Ok Protos it is!

I was looking for a 6s 450 but decided against it.. If I get a 6s 450 it will be a Gaui X3 since I'm getting this Protos..

On the thing it says it's stretched but I will need a couple more upgrades to run 470 blades?

Yes that kit has the stretch tail boom. All you need to run 470s are the 18t tail pulley, long motor shaft for 14t pinion, a 14t pinion, and the Y pinion support bearing I believe. I think it says the part numbers you need on msh-direct.

I prefer the Protos with 470s, it isn't even a contest. But I prefer helis with lower disk loading in general.

But I think you should just fly it stock for a while and see how you like it.

Hey welcome to the club

Both are very nice machines. The argument that the bigger heli is more stable is not so valid anymore when they are flybarless. For smooth flight and hovers they both do very well. I have flown my mini in some incredible strong winds and still had a lot of fun. The 500 is really light for its size and would also be affected by the wind. Not much of a difference there.

The mini can be faster on pitch and roll, and on the 500 it is easier to slow your maneuvers down. That is where the main difference between the two will be.

If you go for the bigger one you will need a bit more space to fly, but if you keep to stationary rolls, flips, tic-tocs, little rainbows you can fly in the same space the mini likes.

Yep both nice machines. My Mini is stretched, Protos not and although they are not that much different in size the Protos is quite a bit more powerful. I agree with spoof that you can fly it in a space for a 450 but it is really more fun when you can stretch its legs. You should also consider that you have to have sufficient charging equipment for the biggger 6S packs for the Protos. Re servos: I´m also using the MKS 9660a+ for cyclic (and a std size Fut 9254 on tail), can´t say a bad thing about them.

Can´t go wrong either way!

I have a huge field a couple minutes walk from my house.. Could probably fly an 800 in it if I wanted! So Protos it is!

I have both stretched as well, Started with the Protos then got the mini too
As stated in couple other responses, great heli, you have the room, just hold off on another 450, you may just ant a mini! It's my micro
BTW, Bill is great at MSH-Direct and you cannot go wrong with MKS servos

Welcome!!

I'm able to fly my Protos 500 in a small school field (about the size of a soccer field) tamely. Then in a big field I can do big air. I think it is the perfect "smaller" 500 heli out there... (smaller than trex 500).

And if you decide you want bigger you can always stretch it.
