Hi Guys,
sorry again for the confusion with the tach....

I am almost finished my build. Wiring is done, BeastX V3 and ESC programming is good. (I have currently the YGE 30A with gov).
Now I want to have the wanted headspeed at about 3700 to 3800 RPM.

I have a flat throttle curve at 70%
I also have a telemetry module TM1100 with the STI Sprektrum receiver for the Iphone because I have only the DX6i.
The motor pinion (15T) / main gear (120T) ratio is: 8 correct???
The motor pole number is: 6 correct???
When I started the motor yesterday I was at 70% still at 4200 RPM....??
What is the max head speed with the 3400KV scorpion motor???
How can I reduce the head speed to the speed I want???
Also at 60% I was over 4000 RPM...

It would be great if you could give me some advice!

I was told by GAUI for the X2 MAX headspeed should be no higher than 4400 RPM.

I think I'm going to govern mine at around 4200-4300. I'm not sure yet. I want a good balance of grace and power. I would like to have at least a 5-6 minute flight time or more if possible.

Poeple have been using 14T or even smaller to reduce HS. With 14T I already get at max about 4400+.

I put 13T on mine. Search for my other posts about it in this forum. I am running easily 6 minutes with 1300mAh batteries. Could probably go longer juts have not tested it yet.

how does it fly for you? What is your flying style? I do very mild flying and wanted to trade head speed for longer flight time. Its somewhat personal preference.

right now i"m just flying FF circuit but hope to be into light 3d once i get the upper hand on my nerves.

Good luck with that at over 4000RPM...

I get 5mins from 1100mah at ~3700RPM To get 6mins you would likely be down below 3500 (it does fly pretty well with the HS that low, but its nicer closer to 4000).

My X2 stock setup with 15T pinion but using a 1300 ran out at about 6:40 so with 13T it should be considerably longer. I have no idea what my head speeds are since I don't have a tachometer.

Actually I have question about that. How do you measure actual head speed safely?

i guess in a test stand with the heli bolted down, the tach bolted down in position.

behind 1/2 safety glass.

but a rpm sensor with telemetry, or compatable fbl unit. or a eagletree data logger
hyperion also makes a data logger, im sure there are others

less accurate way is to download a app for your droid or iphone, goes off the sound and takes a guess

Damn accurate guess, i compared it to a phase sensor and SK720, was off by about 1%. The phone apps work very well as long as its not windy and you can do it from several meters away (further for bigger helis) so its pretty safe.

Off the top of my head that seems correct.

As to the TC, i use 55% flat on my Kontronik for ~3700RPM at some point i will probably go to a 13 or 14T pinion but it works fine as is.

Don't forget the TC for mini jazz is alot lower for the desired HS than say the stock esc.

So that 55% flat with the stock esc wouldn't be anywhere near that!!

I heard that with Kontronik in heli mode, you have to set your throttle curve flat and it cant be set at less than 50% or the govenor wont hold a constant speed. Is this true?

Nope, it will govern all the way down to about 30% (or lower).

and the previous post i quoted mentioned a YGE ESC, the gov mode in that is very similar to the Kontronik so a 55% TC will get a similar result from that as well.
