Default Scorpion 2216 1950kV

I have a custom wound 2216 at 1950kV on the way. Should arrive tomorrow.

About 600W continuous 930W bursts but further testing to be done.

This motor is to upgrade the stock Blade 270 CFX motor since I have stretched to 325.

My frustration is not having data logging of any type. Would it be worth it grabbing an Edge Lite 50 and selling the Talon 35? I am trying to keep the bird as light as possible. I'm just the super curious type so I want to have data logging. I don't have telemetry setup with current sensor or anything. I'm currently using the Taranis X9D and should look into possible telemetry and logging.

I'll post my updates on the motor here but have other threads in the 270 CFX forum for more progress on the stretched performance tuning and upcoming 3Digi.

The data logging on the Edge ESCs is good, as is the governor and soft start.

How it compares with a Talon 35 I have no idea. I have never used a Lite version, only the Ice 50 on this size heli. Depending on hot things get when you fly may sway your choice of Edge or Edge Lite.

I hope your little 270's gears are up to 930W (if you ever get there ). The old HK2221-6 (4400kV) motor was a beast at 525W and could do a bit of damage on the old Trex 450s.

The bad thing about the Lite 50 is a less powerful internal BEC. It can handle more power to the motor than the Talon 35 obviously. I just want the data logging haha. I won't be worrying about it with this heli though.

930W is peak...more like 600 continuous. That 4400kV Scorpion must have been 525W continuous. So my motor isn't much more powerful if at all really. Still out perform the stock motor by far.

Hope to have some flights in by mid next week. Had a silly moment with a rushed setup causing some damaged main blades.

Friday is the day I will FINALLY be getting some flight time in! Can't wait to see what this motor can do and how thirsty it is!

It's actually 1950kV

Can draw around 580W continuous with 930W bursts from what the spec sheet says. Further testing is to be done and I can't wait!

My initial flights will be with a 13T pinion and running a lower 3000-3500 head speed range. I will later install the 14T and run a 3300-3800rpm range. If the packs are holding well at 3800rpm I just might find a 15T and really get some speed out of it! I doubt this motor will be bogging much.

As you see in the picture, a soft screw snapped off in the motor block...grrr
