Default 450 Stretch Mini Protos. Nice Heli But........

I finally got my Protos together and it does fly well, however i have a few issues....

Piroflips, huricanes, pogos are all fine. What i do struggle with is tick tocks. If for example i perform a big ben, by the time I get to 9pm on the dial the thing is bogging. I know people may say collective management but my other helis are fine with my technique - align 550 and 700. I like to tic tok, i will tic tok in different formations for 20-30 seconds if the set up can handle it. I have the stock 4s protos motor in it which seems to lack a little torque. What about if i put on 325mm blades? The pop and collective acceleration is fine. Any Ideas? When i see Nick Maxwell fly his tictoks dont bog at all. I am using 65c thunderpowers 4s 2.2A. Any ideas? should i do a motor upgrade? I suppose i was spoiled with a scorpion 222-6. That was a perfect motor but it kept breaking main gears..... Other than the TickTocks, its an amazing helicopter. Any suggestions appreciated.

The move to 6S might be the answer.
Also you could try more head speed and less pitch to ward off bogging.
When you say breaking main gears, do you mean pinions?

Ps. You put this in the wrong forum, this is Protos 500 area, not mini p.

Actually that was on my last helicopter that kept breaking main gears, the protos has not broken anything yet. Sorry about posting in the wrong forum.....my bad. I will try what you suggest. I might throw in a 17 tooth and see what happens...

Thought so, you'd be doing well to break anything in the Protos drive line.
One way bearing in pinion is a small weak spot, but most of the time you will throw the belt off if pushing way too hard.

I would not go past 4000 rpm head speed, 3750 is my preferred max, anything higher than this just seems to use the packs quicker with giving much else.

What esc and gov settings are you using?
