Tempted by the max v2 myself, might just have to get both!
At this point I have a TDR which is light and great for long low head speed flights. Soon I'll have a TDR2 as a speed trainer.

I was looking at the new Logo 700 as a 700 series beater, but the Protos looks like it will fit that roll better. Cheaper parts, easier to rebuild after a crash and the nearly indestructible gorilla gear. I've got a buyer lined up for the Brain, so I'm looking at a $599 kit. The magnetic canopy mounts, set screw for the motor tension, quick tail belt release and some other features make it a heli that just seems to be less involved.

I expect that the new Logo 700 will fly beautifully, be better balanced than the Protos V2 and I know it will be very well designed. I'm not slighting it in the least.

I'm going to get the Neo setup on my 550SX and think about things a bit before I make a decision. I hadn't crashed in almost a year before IRCHA and if the Neo rescue works really well I have to think about this.

I also want to start flying more. If I can't get to the point where I'm flying more than I am now, it is hard to justify more helis.

Im holding out for a new logo 700, I LOVE the 700 XX, the frames are just to expensive, that's the only thing I would personally change on it. Well maybe the blade grips too, its a pain to get the main blades on with those washers.

So what do you guys think?

It's going to be September soon and we haven't even seen any pictures of the redesigned airframe yet, would it be safe to assume that we won't get our hands on this heli until the new year?

At IRCHA the word was we'll see it before the end of the year, but it won't be available until some time next year, no further details. I think that word came from Mikado or Mikado USA.

I'm sure it will be a great heli and they will wait until they get it right.

Already seen these pictures but apparently they have change the battery tray since then.

The upside for me is I don't have to worry about selling my current 700xx airframe just yet, but the downside is if I crash it (Knock on wood) I will be in two minds weather to fix it or not.

So everyone is always saying it's huge coin to build a mold for these chassis'.
How then do they produce a mold for a one off chassis then decide to scrap it and redesign pack layout?

Can rapid prototyping type stuff be done for injection molding?

Lexus worked on the LFA for several years and was close to an all aluminum car then scrapped the design and started over with carbon fiber. I'm sure that was an expensive decision as well.

I don't think the process of prototyping is ever cheap so I would assume that this was an expensive choice for a multitude of reasons.

On the other hand, I was just thinking about the machining of the molds with all those deep narrow slots. Must be a real nightmare to machine. However, I've read that some of these things are made using a die sinker EDM which means a positive tool has to be first machined from graphite to EDM the cavity out of a proper mold material.

The original prototypes seen at RotorLive were 3D printed models. They were not plastic molded =).

The development is still on track, and certain molding is way underway. This is a 2 piece frame (top & bottom) which allows for easier adjustments in mold modifications, if required.

December is still the target time frame for this helicopter to be released, but not a firm & final release date.

Enough guessing. Seems like its already here!

At least Mikado Germany has it on their website. The red (unavailable) sign was changed to green (available) today. This screen shot I have taken some hours ago...

They also have manual there...

That's not the helicopter this thread is about... that's the 690SX V2.

A very nice helicopter. But correct, that's not the new plastic framed 700 model.
