Fiberglass canopy
Will a fine glass canopy prevent body pin breakage? I'm aware that it will add some weight. Sick of replacing frames. Thanks

I'm gonna say no, assuming the Fiberglass canopies are stiffer than the stock ones.
The thinner, more flexible plastic helps to absorb some of the impact whereas a stiffer material would transfer all/most of the force to the pins/body.

https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=666995 Let me clarify my statement. If you crash anything hard enough or if it hits the wrong way, you can break it. Been in this hobby long enough to have figured that out. Jim's gizmos are very tough and are a great solution to the continual replacement of frames due to canopy pin breakage.

Or paper?
Rather than expensive heavy fiberglass, what about inexpensive light paper? Paper canopies would crush in crash thereby protecting stronger and more expensive parts. We could buy them in packages of 10 because they would be cheap to replace. Or perhaps download a template, then print your own, fold and glue.

Because of my rare and mild flying, AND having brushless power, Fiberglas canopies don't bother me. However I do think I broke one of my pins. How much does the gizmo cost?

I think Jim is asking $9.It will accommodate both brushed and any brushless motor available for the nCPX.

Of course, like some people wear different clothes for parties and work, your nano could have different canopies for showing off and everyday training. |

she better not crash, or she will get a time-out.

No kidding!
The gizmo works great. Alt try the breakaway mod: Cut all pins in 1/2, re-join with shrinkwrap. They then never break at the root. This also saves the canopy.

That goblin canopy looks amazing. I'm going to try out the shrink tube mod. Looks like one of the easiest to pull off.

On the plus side, I liked the way it stabilized the heli. |
