Totally lost on setting up tail
I'm posting this separate because I'm not sure if it's a 4.0 firmware issue or me not understanding something and having something set wrong. I know others were having issues with the tail setup wizard and manually setting endpoints but I cannot get my tail servo to center.
As soon as my 540 clear initializes, the tail servo goes hard to what would be left and then has very little travel back the other direction when I push the rudder stick right. I cannot seem to get it to center at all. If I disconnect the tail servo from the 540 and use a spare RX taking the 540 out of the equation then it centers fine and has proper travel in both directions. As soon as I re-hook it to the 540 and apply power it goes over hard to one side again. I don't remember it doing this with 3.43 but I was setting up the swash at that time and had never gotten to the tail. What am I doing wrong here? Regards, Michael |

Do you have the correct type of servo selected? To add to that... What type of servo is it, and what settings do you currently have?

I had that happen. I redid my model memory on my dx7s and it fixed it.

KST 215MG servo and it's custom setup to the specs of the servo. 1520/333 I briefly had the tail hooked up while using 3.43 and do not remember the tail servo kicking over to one side like this when the power was applied and the 540 initialized.

Check the monitor and see if you have full movement on it. Then change to a blank model and check again. That is how I found my tail issue. I just redid throttle and pitch curves in the new model memory, bound it and no issues since.

OK this is weird. Doubled checked settings and everything was good.....333/1520. Checked servo monitor and showed full travel. Did a power cycle rebind with the software and all of a sudden servo setting read 333/760. Reset it to 333/1520 as it should be for this servo and sent the setup. Powered down everything and re powered up and it's fine now. Issue is gone. I don't know what happened but servo isn't kicking to one side now on initialization so all seems to be well. Now to figure out the actual setup. I get kind of freaked about tail servos. Back in my 720 Blue days I once burned up a Hitec tail servo with the heli doing nothing but sitting there while I was setting up the swash.
If my freakin ESC program card will get here, I might just get to fly by this weekend. Will be my first time in the air in several years! Thanks guys, Michael |

Patients young jedi. I have been waiting on my e5 to show for over a week. I want to build and fly it this week if it ever shows up.

I've experienced the same confusion. After asking around what I did was set up the tail in the wizard exactly like it tells you in each step and do not deviate in any way. When it tells you to mechanically get it centered, etc...
It will initialize off center but don't worry about it. |

Totally lost on setting up tail
I updated my sk720 last night and its true, tail setup blows lol, basically best thing to do is going through the setup again and done deal! All set.
Not that cool is the fact that theres no update for the sk terminal unit, so basically any setup must be done with a computer 'til they release it for the sk lcd.
