Default New TT front drive gear set

New on the align store, still with same number of teeth so no improvement in drive ratio, but as per spec : "Utilizes newly developed, highest spec and superior anti-wear material to increase the overall strength and durability for torque tube drive gear. Effectively minimize gear striping and crash damage."

This is the 0.8mod gear, they also have a new red 0.6mod gear for the older ESP version.

They should have gone mod 1 and 4.5:1 or so :/

Disappointed to be honest. I don't fly 2400rpm on a 600, I need higher than 3.85....

Yeah I'm with you. All we can do is hope that Align have a 600X on the way. They have come up with some nifty things lately......imagine a full set of adjustable turnbuckles for the new 470L. So let's hope someone has switched the lights on in their offices and is doing some thinking.

For thoose who dont fly high hs, there is a 3 blade tail. Or longer blades. 3,85 ratio is ok i think. Of course they shod have a higher ratio option too. But a 550 or 600 for 3d comes alive at 2300-2500 rpm. And max tail speed allowed vy the blades is 10.000 rpm, so....

Ok, for 600 its maybe the top, but for 550, it is very good speed. I dont have a 600, but my friend used to run 2400-2500 on snyergy e6. It was a screamer.

My 550X will arrive tomorrow, so soon i will try 2500-2700 rpm

Btw 2600 on 550 is the same blade tip speed that a 700 heli has at 2050. And 2050 is considered as normal speed on 700 machines.

Tip speed is literally 0% relevant to how a helicopter performs lol

Because we fly from lift, not tip speed...

Maybe not 0% but if you're looking at tip speed alone you're doing something wrong

I am not looking only tipspeed, but at least it is a comparable numer.

i will try to find more or less the same feel, then see if it was comparable

No, tip speed shouldn't be the same as the heli scales up or down. For example if that were the case and taking 2050RPM as a 'norm' for a 700 then a 450 (325mm blades) would run 4500RPM.. and a Blade 180 would run 8000RPM!

The reason tip speed doesn't remain the same is because weight scales to the cube of linear scale but disk area scales to the square. Therefore larger helis (all other things being equal) have higher disc loading and so need higher blade velocity to make more lift per unit disc area.

Allowing for this difference 2600RPM on a 550 would equate to more like 2300RPM on a 700... which would be pretty high.

I'd rather stick to shorter cheaper blades that stay out of the ground

Without doing a stretch you are very limited in how much bigger you can safely go on tailblades. 105mm isn't safe, there are documented cases of blade clash, about 100mm is the maximum which is only a 5mm increase over stock.

+1 on the stretch. Chop 100mm off a 700 boom and tt, do the 600 nitro auto gear and front tt gear. Put a set of 640 Zeals on it and 95 mm tails then rock and roll!

Is the nitro auto gear and front TT gear mod a direct drop in or do you need to slot the frame holes?
