With the programming card, we can set the governor off. There are 3 mode (gov on, gov off, gov store) Yesterday, I have receive my second YGE 100A and I wanted to try it in my other Outrage without the governor. Should I give a try or not ?

I ran my heli for the first few flights with the gov off with an 95-85-95 v curve before I turned it on, although I had calced out my 85% to be my target headspeed at 2300 and all was just fine. I just didnt pound on the collective breaking the heli in..

I forgot to mention before but if you are running 12S you will probably need the freewheel off.

That is the RC setup (No Prog Card). If you have a prog card use it, its much easier. If anyone has any questions on YGE feel free to PM me i should be able to get you sorted.

Is anyone having trouble storing the settings on the ProgCard? Every time I try to program it's reset when I reboot the card and press enter.. I have power going to the receiver AND to the esc.

The card is connected to the short programming lead right?
Also, you must power up the ESC first. So plug in flight pack first and the power the prog card.

Yes the short lead goes to the card. I have not tried powering the esc first, so maybe that's what's wrong..

OK so...
ESC is 90 HV with two servo wires... one short (to go to prog card) one long (to go to receiver. Prog Card has two servo-type connectors (right and left) 1. Disconnect all power 2. Connect ESC short servo wire to "right" prog card connector 3. Disconnect ESC from the Rx 4. Connect Servo wire from Rx (throttle channel) to "left" Prog Card connector 5. Power up ESC (motor disengaged from the main gear) 6. Power up Rx (with 5V power source), which will power up the prog card... 7. Program...(dis, dat and the udder ting...) 8. Remove power from the Rx, which will kill power to the prog card 9. Remove power from the ESC 10. Disconnect prog card from Rx 11. Connect ESC long wire to Rx 12. Disconnect ESC short wire from prog card (tuck it out of harms way). 13. Go fly! Does that cover it with regards to wiring for programming?

Once the gov is set, change your throttle curve to whatever you like and then step 13.

Thanks. I understand how to do all of that and I've followed Pete from Elektro's YouTube vid to a 'T', but I read further in the included instructions and it said that the HV ESC's won't read back if they are different from v4??

Can't comment on that as my manual was written for the non-HV ESC's that don't have the programming lead. I promptly tossed it in the garbage and worked my way through it with the help of Pete's site & Joe on here.

Well, figured it out. In my included instructions it says the functioning voltage of the ProgCard is 4-6v. I was using 5.8, then I tried a 4.8v NiMH(after numerous emails back and forth from Pete @ ElektroRC of course. Thanx Pete!) and it works perfectly. I'm using it on a 600 Pro but don't know if I can get it to 2500RPM with the gov tho. I was one of those people against the lower tail ratio and such a high headspeed until I tried it! My favorite bird to fly now... Was using the Castle Creamation but given the circumstances I felt I needed a YGE since I run a Kontronik on my Shape 9.0 but didn't want to splurge for one again. I've done a couple of test flights without the gov though with 'v' curves and it's great except the esc wouldn't arm until I changed the endpoints, even after doing a throttle calibration using the card. Thanks everyone who helped!

If you did your throttle calibration with your throttle hold on for the lower point it may cause an issue for certain controllers. For instance on a futaba 8fg throttle hold and 0 are two different values.. throttle hold is usually -125..while zero is -100 or something like that. Hence I suggest doing throttle calibration with throttle hold off and stick set to zero.
