GT5 FBL system in TDR
I have been experimenting a bit with the GT5 system from TT for a while now, and so far I am mighty impressed.
Since the unit is designed in Europe, the menu structure is very straight forward and the whole heli is set up completely from the unit. No PC connection needed. The interaction with the unit works via a touch panel on the side (seen on the rear in the photos below). At first it's a bit funky, but after a few minutes it works surprisingly well. Once set up, it flies very similar to the AC-3X, but the tail is crisper and the cyclics can be dialed in harder/faster. For my first flight I had it all cranked to the max and my TDR flew like a friggin' 450 on steroids. Even had my Jive come down blinking "Please kill me. Now." (8 flashes). After rolling it down a few notches, it flies amazingly smooth and neutral with no unnatural tendencies. No pitch-ups on high speed and great for low head speed flights. I will try to get a video of it in action one of these days. The unit will be very competitively priced, it seems. Here are a few photos: |

Some nice info, Thanks. Can the GT5 also be used as a receiver or not?

Edvard does not have any camera, because he buys only helis and electronics for them.

Got a manual...
Quite a good manual, I reckon - actually explains what happens when you change parameters. Should come in handy for 1st time users. The quality of the PDF is a bit poor as I had to resize the file, and split it up in 2 parts because of the 2MB upload limit. |

Who is this friend "google" of which you speak so highly of???
Those are some fine, fine looking paint jobs... Can I have one? I'm not even picky, which ever one you want to "give up...." Or, maybe the Ac3x??? Or, one of your motors.... heck, I'll take anything you owned... What I make up for in heli's, I think you make up for in electronics... hehe Seems every time I check this forum, you have a new post, for some new electronics... Just send the stuff to: Joe Breezy 123 my street Anytown, USA 12345

Check the forums more often; it's not that often something comes about that I feel is worth posting anything about. Most of it is kinda "meh"... |

Meh.... is still better than nah..... Well, it most cases anyway.... I "usually" Do not stop by here everyday, so that's probably why it seems you always have some new stuff.... I can't remember if you've answered this question yet... Which FBL do "YOU" like the best? (notice I'm not turning this into a "which is the best system") It seems you've used many of the high end systems, do you even have a favorite, or like most, every one has it pluses and minuses...???? I've had the chance to use Vbar, skookum720, total G. Personally, I'd pick the Vbar each time, simply because I like the setup. I like the idea of trim flight. I used to think the skookum would be awesome with Self leveling (since I'm still new) but, I've had nothing but problems with it on my FaiFa. Get vib readings off the charts... Although, I have finally found what I think was causing the vibes on my FaiFa, which was the crown gear mesh. But, I managed to pick up a mini Vbar I'm going to put on it, to see if it works better.... I do like the skookum for my t600 though... Any chance you've been able to play with the new JR FBL system? Along with this TT system, I'd also be interested in trying the Ac3x, and the Heli command systems... (forget the model, CX basic? Extreme? and SX?) Anywho... enjoy your toys.... Hopefully looking forward to possibly another TDR, in which case I'll keep my first one a dedicated 800mm heli, and the new I'll keep a "normal" TDR.... Later, joe_Breezy

My current favorite is the AC-3X, but it is getting some tough competition from the GT5, and I think it could prove to be better. Time will tell. The main reasons for liking these is the completely neutral flying feel that can be set up with them. No unexpected characteristics and/or robotic feel, and especially no pitch-ups on high speed. Of course they can also be set up to be totally insane, especially the GT5. I have numerous V-bars on my helis, and I used to be a total fan-boy. That was until I started doing naughty things that the V-bar didn't appreciate and I had a couple of sensor failures - both scenarios is something that does not end pretty. I love the setup wizard for the V-bar and the bank switching. Governor is kinda nice, but have no incentive to use it. Everything else, the AC-3X (and now the GT5) does equally well, and in most cases better. The HC-3SX works really well too, but like everything else other than AC-3X, GT5 and V-bar it is kind of a pita to set up and get flying. I did try the JR system. Flies, but kinda antiquated UI. Not previously a great fan of the BeastX, but I reckon I need to update mine to 3.0 and give it a go. It has great potential, but seems very sensitive to mechanical vibration, probably due to inexpensive sensors. The new (yet to be released) 3GX firmware is a great update as well. It will have a number of settings to get it more neutral. In summary, for a TDR, either V-bar, AC-3X or a GT5 is a no-brainer. V-bar has some issues for speed-flying, but for sane people it will be great. |
