Default Castle Creations ESC Recall

Thx to Mon T for pointing this out to me on another thread. Looks like this will probably affect a bunch of us running 80's or 120's..... here is the link to PR page from Castle......

http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...ydraicehv.html

Take your connectors off etc. as stated. Kind of a drag but better safe than sorry.....

Saw the recall notice on Saturday evening the 20th. My 80HV was in the mail on Monday the 22nd. On the 24th, Patrick (owner of CC) reports on RCG a 1-3 day turnaround. On the 30th Patrick indicates the replacements are released for shipment. Like a lot of folks, I mistakenly assumed the new controllers / new parts were ready when Patrick reported the 1 to 3 turnaround.

I'm not upset by any stretch. There are lots of guys that are waiting a lot longer than me. And there are lots of guys who lost thier models or came close. On the bright side this has let me re-discover my T500 with the Hobbywing governor that has been sitting on shelf since last winter. Owning a Compass has that affect on the rest of your non-Compass fleet

Yeah, I've been waiting since a couple weeks before IRCHA to get mine back (CC120HV). I sent it in for the V3 update only to find out it then needed a V4 update. I sure hope it got pulled back off the line and sent in for the V4 before it got shipped out (if it's even in the mail). I don't mind waiting for it and I'd be happy to get it back whenever they get around to it. I just don't want any more expense tied to it because that's like $260 into it with shipping it when I bought it, shipping to CC, and the cost of the ESC to begin with. Almost the equivalent of getting a decent used Kontronik which I would've prefered by a long shot if it weren't for the data logger on the ICE. Yay...

Got my HV80 back last week so they are working through the backlog, be patient. Good news is that it did not smoke on the first second or third flight. There would have been a fourth, but the rain started during flight #3. Even better news is that the governor seems to be working much better than my old unit. Same firmware, same settings, just lots better. Also no tail kicks. I won't call that issue solved until I get some more flights on it.

Man, the Knight was flying beautifully. In the few short weeks the ESC was out for repair, I had forgotton how much I love to fly that thing.
