Hi guys,

i have also a new YS 60SR with 12 flights now.

Today, the engine runs abrupt lean. Damn ..... after a autorotation i checked the engine.
The engine was all right, but the glow plug was broken. The engine runs now with a rich carburator setting (and new OS 8) still lean.

I think the check valve was damaged. I replaced it and tomorrow i will take a new test flight.

Happy New Year!

Hi,

pressure is now OK! But the engine runs still lean.
IMO the cause of the lean run is definitively the carburator.

Now i order a new OS 55 HZ-R + OS Powerboost Pipe II Limited Edition!
I had never any issues with my other OS HZ-Rs.

Hi,

after cleaning from the carburator, the YS 60SR runs very well.

No comment....

P.S.: I'd used a fuel filter!

Is that an insect? Probably crawled in the open carb from the fan shroud pretty easily. Little bastard!

I'm not sure. Maybe it was a nitro junkie bee from japan.

Hello, New here and a friend said come check these out. What I read it appears all these engines went lean during the flight. I use a lot of the YS heli engines in airplanes. I also race the YS four strokes. The YS engines need a well maintained fuel system. Need filters from the tank to the engine. The check valves need to ensure they are tight and stay tight. If after these times when the engine went lean or stopped did you have pressure in the tank when you pulled the fuel line off? Was there pressure on the vent side?

Afraid that was a little too long ago for me to recall. I do not believe I had any loss of fuel pressure. My YS 60Sr eventually died too. There was a magical weekend when found a metal shard in the fuel pump on the diaphragm. Once I discovered that, it ran beyond believe for a few runs. I think my next time out, it flamed out, and when I inspected there were tiny nicks on top of the piston. I put the Thunder Tiger 53 in with an OS Carb and adapter and had quite a few pretty good flights until it also let go. I had an OS55 ready and waiting, but that season, TT went away, so I stopped flying the TT X50 and sold it while it was still airworthy. Was one of the funnest helis I ever owned, but it had a few issues of it's own. I had no desire for another mid size glow heli at that point. I came back later with a TRex 700N, and a YS 91SRX which I had modified by Murnan's Modified Engines from Georgia. Had zero problems with it. Killer power, and excellent manners.

Welcome.
The 1st thing to learn is to check the date of the last post before you reply.
You would have seen that it was 2014.
