Micro Heli CF Tail Rod Replacement
I finally found a way to hurt the Honey Bee FP: dump it while flying backwards indoors. I half-way broke the CF tail rod right where it goes into the boss on the tail motor case. I know how to drill and scrape it out, but haven't felt like going through that process so the heli has been sitting for a few days. Tonight I remembered that people use heat guns and the like to extract tail booms. So I boiled some water, held the heli just so, and used a tablespoon to carefully dribble boiling water to heat the area where the rod goes into the hole it sits in. Pretty soon the rod and part of it's nub came out with a gentle tug.
There was some CF material left in the hole so I continued to apply hot water while picking splinters of it out with a dental pick. Now the hole is clear and ready for a new piece of CF rod and I haven't distorted it or made it larger. Fast and easy. P.S.: Okay, water is the way to go in more than one instance. I had an LG that had one broken strut, so I dipped the area where the broken piece went in the skid in a pot of boiling water (making spaghetti) and pulled out the broken strut with ease. Now I can cut and install another CF rod and have another spare LG.

Aluminum Booms
There have been guys who talked about knitting needles for booms. Well, you can buy them super cheap at craft stores if an aluminum boom is what you'd like. They're 2 in a package for $4.50. I bought red ones to go with my King 2 canopy with the checkered flag segments on it. They're sold as the Susan Bates 5.5mm X 14" long knitting needles, made by Coats and Clark and I got mine from AC Moore. It might help to roughen up the ends to get them to hold better.
