WOW, I sure was not expecting to stir up a sh!t storm. I can't wait to see what Airtronics is up to. Luckely I'm not in a great hurry to get my heli switched over, getting all the stuff ready now as funds allow and now to wait and see what's happening.

Once again, Thanks TMOORE...

Timmy..

That's nice and open ended. Is there a date in mind for the "work in process"? Weeks, months or years?

as long as Futaba doesn't have a stranglehold patent on the protocol they use, then the same serial connection could be made with many other recievers. The way I understand it is like a home network. You can plug in a HP, Asus, Xbox, Nintendo Wii, DVD player etc... into the network Cat5/6 cable and the device will be able to send/recieve signals etc... It's a connection pure and simple. To what, and what for depends. For instance, to share information, you may need 2 Windows or Mac pc's with sharing and networking setup to see eachother. I don't see my Wii on my home network, but it's plugged in and can get netflix etc... So while physically they may connect, that does not mean an airtronics reciever is going to play nice with a Futaba radio system or vice versa. Think of S-bus like that network cable, it's just a cable connection to send serial data from a device like a FBL to the Rx and back etc...

Now ultimately , would Airtronics version be called S-bus. I doubt that, as Futaba probably has a trademark on that. But if Futaba didn't invent or significantly improve an existing technology to impliment/design S-bus(which I kind of doubt---why bother I mean it's established already) then they couldn't patent that persay and other's would be allowed to use it. That said, I have NOOOOO inside knowledge of anything Futaba/Airtronics has going on, just my best guess and 2 cents of opinion

You cannot patent a basic serial protocol, but you can copyright the word "S-Bus". So this thread is now what 5-6 months old, any signs of the SBUS compatible Airtronics rx ?

lol I think Airtronics has some good stuff and all, but they seem to take their sweet time launching new products. I'd love to run some of their Radio stuff, but tbh the 10g feels like a pregnant porqupine in my hands. IF it was more comfortable like my 8fgh I'd be game.

lol, well it's comfortable in the sense it works and feels similar to my realflight 3 controller so I'm used to it. Whereas the 10g feels like your trying to take the dress off of an M1 Abrahms tank, that mofo is beastly and bumpy. I'm digging their latency though, even though my Futaba is really low latency, the Airtonics has it beat there. Plus I know a few pilots who are very happy with their 10G's.

I must have big hands. I could not ask for a better fit on the sticks, BUT I am a thumber so that might be part of it. If the switches were a bit farther apart it would be better for me.
