Default Suspense

Suspense is killing! I've been practicing it with a piro at each corner in anticipation of #3.

I suck at it but it was cold and my first attempt with actual points on the ground. We I first started flying I used to work on similar stuff or same concept but not with anything actually on the ground

Hugo... good job mate!
With a little heli like that you did well seriously. The backwards stuff shows your really progressing well on getting your orientations down. You just need to work on your slow piro control which I am sure is TOUGH on that little heli!

hmmm....I will have to try and get some videos of my slow foward flight. At the moment I can do clockwise circuits and figure 8's one direction only in slow forward flight. Gotta work on my anit-clockwise circuits though they are pretty rough.

Once again Zole, great to see you finish off both challenges. Nice smooth SLOW control just what I like to see

Back to life with another entry, how bout it?

The challenge doesn't start until 3:25, but before that I give a quick lesson on how to remove a reflective sticker from your blade with the grass.

If the sticker was wrapped around the leading edge instead of the trailing that would not happen
Just due to air resistance any sticker should lap over the leading edge to keep that from happening even in the air.

Nice job Deatz! You have come a long way since I remember your flying...

I have not really thought about what to do next for #3
These challenges were for new guys to get them to work on orientation skillz rather than trying to do piro flips right away. As stated I see far too many guys sim-it and learn "hot" maneuvers only to see they have to tail in land, tail in recover, or simply not have any nose/side in capabilities. So the next challenge for upright eludes me a little.

What do you all think? Some inverted challenges next or something? e.g. master your orientation skills but now inverted?

Ideas are more than welcome!

Bob

Default numero tres

I think we should have a bob-a-like contest to see who can be as awesome as bob.

Thanks Bob! Both for the tips and the kind comments. I'll be sure to put the stickers on the leading edge from now on.

For lessons 3 and 4, perhaps just do lessons 1 and 2, but inverted. Moving on, 5 and 6 could be lesson 2 and 4, but backwards/reversed.

SLOW flight, in all 4 directions... upright forward and backward, left and right circles, maintain altitude, keep speed SLOW - it's pretty tricky. Then bonus part to do it inverted.

I think you could do circles, clock wise and counter clockwise. And figure 8's in both directions (going away from yourself in the middle and coming toward yourself in the middle). These would be slow and in control also maintaining a constant height.

Some one challenged me to go the other way through my figure 8 yesterday and I could do it, but was surprised how hard it was.

This goes toward getting a strong foundation before having to move on to inverted or backward flight. Where your first two were primarily hovering (with a little forward flight), this to me is the next logical step of smooth controlled forward flight.

Inverted is too much for challenge #3.

Why not a vertical box this time, forwards and backwards (includes two stationary half piros per turn) This would add both the vertical straight ascent and descent to the challenge, and backwards flight too?

Challenge #3 is posted.

Sounds like #4 could be upright FF circles or figure eights. Maybe some backwards flight.

I am catching up late on these, this is my attempt on challenge #2, found flying over the markers makes it so much harder, than just flying a square without the spots, but great practice. Again this is Trex 250SE and it was a pretty calm afternoon, so the wobbling is all down to me.
