Hi:

Sorry for your troubles. We'd like to help you get this sorted out.

1) Have you updated the CPII Computer Module to v2.37 or the latest v2.40? Did you check the update bootstrap check box before you installed the new firmware?
2) What version of Windows are you running?
3) When you say "the screen goes blank" do you mean the text help screen above the menu text and control buttons goes white (no text), or do you mean the whole application shuts down?
4) What happens if you press the ENTER and/or INC/DEC buttons on the CPII Display software. Can you get it to go to other menus. I'm wondering if it's just the welcome screen causing you the problems or all the programming screens?
5) You should install the FUIM3 tester at the following link and make sure the FUIM3 is passing the speed tests.

http://www.revolectrix.com/applicati...ster/setup.exe

When you run this program, you have to apply 4.8v to 6v across the red/blk wires on the JR pigtail, but do not plug this connector into the CPII computer. You can use a 4 cell Ni battery for power if you have one lying around. Pull down and select the COM ports one at a time, then click "Test". The speed test will run at multiple speeds and say PASSED or FAILED. It will only work on one of the COM ports presented, not all of them. Let me know the results of these tests.
6) Do you have a different computer you can use to rule out a USB port problem, or can you try different USB ports on the same computer? Some customers have reported problems with USB 3.0 ports, but not USB 2.0 ports for example.
7) You can also try a different FUIM3 if you have access to one, or you might try a new USB cable between the FUIM3 and the USB port on your PC.

Please email me directly at tim@fmadirect.com. Leave your name and a phone number where you might be reachable. If you can't get it going, we'll see if someone can try to contact you over the weekend.

I had the same apparent faulty unit, but it is related to my PC. When I use my almost brand new works laptop I get intermittent behaviour, almost as though my USB lead were faulty. It is just like it is being powered on and off. Jerry suggested that it would be some sort of funky power management issue, preventing the port being kept open. It behaved like this on every USB port of my new Windows 7 PC.

Switching to my older, very reliable, Dell D620, Windows XP laptop, it worked perfectly, straight off the bat, every time. Suggesting that Jerry's assessment of the power manangement issue was probably correct.

My USB ports on my new laptop give me no issues with any other USB devices, but it's not like I have a lot. Usually just a memory stick and an external drive.

I would like to help by messing with my settings, but sadly, since it is my works laptop, I am not to keen on changing bios settings or similar, to see if this will solve it, especially as I already have a working solution with my old laptop anyway.

Cheers

Sutty

for your troubles. We'd like to help you get this sorted out.

1) Have you updated the CPII Computer Module to v2.37 or the latest v2.40? Did you check the update bootstrap check box before you installed the new firmware?
(Yes , the 2.40 installed, and the boot strap is installed)
2) What version of Windows are you running?
(Windows 7)
3) When you say "the screen goes blank" do you mean the text help screen above the menu text and control buttons goes white (no text), or do you mean the whole application shuts down?
(Just the text screen go blank and then reappears, 20 sec later, only to go away again after 2 sec)
4) What happens if you press the ENTER and/or INC/DEC buttons on the CPII Display software. Can you get it to go to other menus. I'm wondering if it's just the welcome screen causing you the problems or all the programming screens?
(I can go to the next menu, but its very slow. and only for 2 sec)
5) You should install the FUIM3 tester at the following link and make sure the FUIM3 is passing the speed tests.
(not done yet... no 5 volt available yet)

http://www.revolectrix.com/applicati...ster/setup.exe

When you run this program, you have to apply 4.8v to 6v across the red/blk wires on the JR pigtail, but do not plug this connector into the CPII computer. ( I have tried 2 ports and the screen promps COM3 )
7) You can also try a different
( I have a XP stand by unit but no help. the boot strap will not appear on the display and a different USB cable)
but I am able to do the set up with the IRnet controller, I would to see the text screen for more info
( i just did the usb test for com 3 and it passed !
XP boot strap solved , but same problem, 2 sec on then off..............

Do you have the HD module installed?

Did you assign flight modes to the switch positions???

Perhaps having the off position at either the top or bottom switch position will work for you..that is how mine is setup

Hi n6nev,

I have used the three position switch just as you describe and it worked OK on my DX8 Tx.

Question, if you have the programer in the preflight mode and move the switch to the center position, does it say off or does it show another flight mode? If it show another flight mode, what flight mode?

If the remote switch is in the up position does it show "Level Flight" mode? And if down does it now show "Level in Hard Deck"?

I am assuming that you have the auto trim changed from 6 to off. If not then CPII still have a little input even when the remote is in the off position. Is that possibly what you are seeing to make you believer CPII is always on or is it the IR Programmer?

Question...
Why are you disconnecting the main sensor during setup?
