Default Is the Edge 120 enough for the 800mx?

Hi Guys,

Today after my first flight with my 700dfc pro I noticed that the esc came down pretty hot.
I have a stock setup, just changed the tail servo and bec.
The beast is runing with +/- 10,5 degrees of pitch. Normal 1900rpm, idle 1 2050 and idle 2 2150.
I am really afraid of this esc shuting down during some maneuvers.
I am just a sport flying and mild 3d.

Please let me know tour thoughts.

Thanks!

what are the temps in the log? as long as its not going over 190 i would say your good. where did you mount your esc also? i think most ppl mount on one side of the battery tray up front. if its mounted there i would think about cutting a couple holes on that side of the canopy if your temps are high. but if you dont wanna do that some ppl mount it on the back of the heli. i tried that and found it was hard to do and looks like crap. i personally made a couple little holes in the canopy to get some air in and it took my temps down 15-20 degs.

BUT your best option if you can afford to do it is upgrade to the 160, problem solved.

It depends 100% on how hard you fly. Everything else is secondary, imo. Medium timing and 12khz are the best settings according to the Align guys' posts...

I will check the log today and see the values. The esc is mounted in the back.

Thanks Guys!

well if its mounted on the back i would say your fine if your just doing mild 3d/sport flying.

if you had it mounted under the canopy and was flying smack 3d i would say upgrade. i would think your good tho..

just ALWAYS check your logs at the end of each day of flying. that's crucial

Its def possible to shut down the 120 with the 800MX, plenty of posts here about it.
But if you fly 'normally' - not trying to break it, it will be fine.

it would be hard to shut it off with it mounted on the back and flying mild 3d/sport. its specifications say its good up until 212 F. but like i said with it mounted on the back and with his flying style i wouldn't worry at all.

just watch your logs!! only then you will know...

I never over temped, always over current hard cuts, only thing that stopped it was turning that setting off, but that felt wrong, so upgraded to kosmik 200, then 850mx, now I just over temp or over current the kosmik if I try hard enough

Default Logs!

Hi Guys,

Sorry by my delay, was out of town yesterday.

Please, find attached the logs. I saw that I reached around 172 degrees...

I changed the extention to txt, so need to change back to CSV.

I am not pretty familiar with the logs, any thought?

Thanks!
