Canopy Break-away Mounts
I have not had good luck with these on my e-aurora. I have changed atleast 4 of them over the past months flying without crashing. They dont break in half completely , they just form a fracture that progressively gets weaker and the canopy will begin to vibrate in flight. Has anyone successfully re-enforced them or made their own using carbon fiber

Have never seen that. Do holes you made for canopy line up with mounts correctly? If they are pulling on mounts that could possibly cause your problem.

Sounds like you have a severe vibration problem.

canopy lines up fine. I did however have my gov gain too high for a while and just lowered it about a week ago so this may have added to the cause

Gov gain too high could cause alot of shaking throughout flight. Running castle run no more than 10 gain.

I've had insanely huge vibration problems on mine until just a few days ago. To the point I thought I was going to snap the canopy in half and I have yet to see the same on my mounts. Of course I might not have a ton of flights on mine and mine is an electric, but I can tell you I got a lot of funny looks from people out at the field because of how bad it was.
Even after resolving the overwhelming majority of the shakes I still lost a canopy nut on Sunday so the mounts seem pretty robust to me. Hope you get it figured out soon in any event.

Speaking of Canopy mounts. I have the RC Booya mounts, which are nice, but it's a bit of a pain lining up the lower attachment points. A friends said he saw some magnetic mounts, wonder if anyone else has seen or used something like that. I'd like to use them on the lower points and keep the RCB mounts on the upper.

If you are leaving the front booya pins in the canopy and trying to get it on and off its a bit of a pain. I remove the front pins and lightly grease them so them slip through the grommet easily. Leaving the back ones in at all times, putting canopy on, hook up rear pins which will line up front mounts pretty close. Then just line up grommet with booya mount and push front pin in. Other side falls right into place and push other pin in. Removing canopy just pull both front pins completely out and disconnect rears and canopy comes right off.

I'll give that a try. Seems to defeat the purpose of the mount, but if it works and stays put, I'm game.

@Stevin,
Curious, but are you losing the front canopy mounts more often or the rear? I am wondering if maybe you have a hard-to-see crack in the frame somewhere? When you install new canopy mounts, do they feel solid?

I personally haven't lost any yet.

They're just as much of a PITA as the Booyas for tight fits like the front mounts on the Aurora. I think Quick UK were the ones a friend had on his Atom and the center pin goes in pretty far which is why it's not easier to get on/off, but I know where your mind was going with this. I too wish it was easier to yank the canopy off because I don't like prying at it so much. I charge with my packs on the bird so I rarely have to take it off anyway but when I do I know I have to roll up my sleeves to get the job done.

Yeah, I don't like Quicks pin arrangement kind of defeats the purpose. I saw a write up on some homemade magnets for the Whiplash using 13 lb magnets, so I may try to rig my own with a set of those. at 13 lbs they should self center pretty good.

I think some very heavy duty magnets encased flush in fiberglass and then painted over the same color of the canopy would be nice, but I also recall reading a thread last year about a guy using the Quick UK magnetic canopy mounts on a Trex 700 where the canopy slipped off and hit the main blades during a tail slide. So without proper testing by someone else, I would be hesitant to hold my canopy on with only magnets. Maybe 4 magnets plus an additional safety clip of some kind would be a better alternative.
I do not understand the problem people are having with the RC Booya quick-release style mounts on the Aurora. I have been using these canopy mounts since there were in the prototype phase, and they have always worked well for me. They are easy to take on and take off. The secret is to connect the two rear mounts first, and then fish around under the canopy with your hands to secure the two front mounts.

In any event, make sure you get neo-dymium type magnets if you're going to attempt it. Those puppies have some real strength where the ferrous ones more than likely won't be up to the task.
I bet that it's a problem of procedure with the Booya mounts. If you don't have some kind of logical approach to it you might find them to be pretty difficult to manage. The stock canopy mounts on a Trex 700E were a real PITA get on and off, so I'm sure it has a lot to do with needing 4 pin-points vice the actual layout. I've personally found the Booyas to be a life saver, but can't find them specifically anywhere for the Aurora.

Also guys who are having a problem lining up bottoms pins should use a spacer or two and space them out. I actually mounted the two bottom tabs on the outside of the frame because I was having a little trouble getting them to click In. It's the top pack that doesn't allow the clip to push in easy with certain packs. Once I did this I can have my canopy on or off In a matter of seconds. Atleast try it out for a day at the field!
