Default What is a good target head speed??

Hey guys,
I have a 2- 425s one stock with 430s and one stretch in progress to 550,
Read all the power set ups, and head speeds are all over. What is a good head speed for each? I have a scorpion 3026-1400 and 1600 motors.
I don,t do any 3d, just basic sport flying. Running stock gears and just doing some changes.
Have multiple pinions and would get whatever gears I need. Just looking for best performance(non 3d) and batt life(flight time) Currently running 2-2200 3s batts. Currently no gov on esc but could set.

Thanks for the input

For mild sport flying and decent flight times, here are my suggestions.

Running the short boom and 430mm blades, a head speed of around 2500 to 2600 should work fine. I run a head speed of around 3000, which makes for awesome power and collective response, but only get 4:00 flights with 6s 2500mah batteries.

On my long boomed Hurri running 550mm blades, I run a head speed of 1800 to 1900. It flys pretty well for sport flying, and I can get 8:00 + flight times with 2x3s 3300's, although I only have my timer set at 5 min as that is about all the longer this old fart can concentrate on flying in one flight.

Jerrymac, That sounds good, my 425 is about that now so i'm glad, the 550 at 1800 sounds great w8min! Hover and handles well, with good response? What motor/gearing are you using on that set-up?
I had installed the 475 boom and woodies on my 425 a while back and did not care for it( never full throttle head speed to high for the oodies ) So I removed the woodies and put the 430s back on and it works good. Putting the short boom back on and waiting for the 550 parts with cf blades.
Now what motor to use? Or do I pick up another with diff kv?
Thanks
