Default Mini Vbar

Those of you running a mini v bar, I've noticed that it touches the frames when mounted on the boom block. I imagine this transmits vibes, so I'm wondering how you get around this. Do you just mount the gyro REALLY far back, or notch the frame? Other options?

Make sure you have the newer 90 degree to mainshaft bottom frame and mount the fbl on the base! Less vibes there also! Not a v-bar but here you go. This is an old photo. Heli now is running scorpion 2520-1360 on 5 series thunderpower 1800mah 70c lipos.

Is there a way to verify which bottom plate I have?

I've heard concerns of the fbl being centerpunched down there

My SK540 is mounted pretty far back, though it's thinner than the frames, it would only barely touch them even if it was larger. It would be very easy to file off that little of frame.
It also helps that I have my tail boom block nearly all the way out (for a slightly longer tail).

I would be concerned about this as well, I believe there is only one record of this happening though.

The bottom plate is angled on purpose so it is perpendicular to the main shaft, I don't think there has been any other version of it.

You can mount it on the boom block with two pieces of 3m. Should raise it a bit. I mounted mine back there and it seems fine.

My bad! It was the protos 500 that had a new bottom plate upgrade that was 90 to main shaft. The mini was always 90 to the main. SORRY! Been a while LOL!

Your chances of spearing the fbl with the main are probably less than getting hit by lightning or winning a mega lottery. The cnc servo/bearing blocks and lower 3rd bearing block will help immensely here if you do not have them already.

Ps the top of the boom block being empty is an ideal place to zero a digital pitch gauge with front to rear or side to side axis. No where else convienient on this heli at all. Using the boom to zero is a big PIA and limited to one axis! Again a lot less vibration on the bottom plate also.

I adjusted my boom and motor position so that I could slide the tail almost all the way back. There is probably room there now. I might still put it underneath.

My Mini V-Bar case on the Mini Protos has some marks at the front from touching the frames in the past, I never bothered with it, after the marks showed up. Touching got less as the marks got deeper ;).
