those are remnants from the old school 72mhz receivers that had about a 20" antenna wire... folks used a pice of tube in the skids to route the antenna through to keep it out of the way.

Huh I didn't realize the protos was that dated lol.

I didn't get mine until x-mas this year and I love this heli it's been nothing but smooth, quiet and reliable for me.

I've put 673 hard flights on it since I got it, I've never had a single mechanical failure that caused a crash and I've only dumb thumbed it 2 times.
I only look it over every 100 flights or so and I do change out the belt and any bad bearings every 250-300 flights.

The only issues I've had was around the 500th flight the motor tensioner pulley bearings froze up and the pully ate its self through the plastic bracket I still had power and brought her down safely and the entire pulley fell onto the ground just as I landed.

The second issue I got a split second of belt slip on hard collective but landed safely under power again. The belt was loose enough to just slip off

I ran my Futaba antenna through the smaller ones when I had mounted on bottom frame under main gear

Those holes would make the perfect spots for a couple of small, dome shaped leds. I dont have my Protos next to me but I would imagine some standard 3mm size "through hole" style leds would fit perfectly.

I think I tried fitting some 5mm leds but they were just a bit too big. Red and orange leds usually have a forward voltage of 1.9 to 2.2v. So 2 of those in series would run off of a small single cell lipo.

Any other color of led usually starts from 2.6 volts on up. So a small resistor would be in order.
