Tam, did you go to the fun fly in San Diego this weekend? How was it?

Question for those of you who do funnels, either on the sim or in real life, do you go around clockwise or counter-clockwise and are you right-handed or left-handed? I am asking because in talking to guys here it seems that we left-handers go around clockwise and the right-handers go around counter. Just curious.

I do them both ways in real life and I'm right handed.

I sure did go to the San Diego fun fly. It was a lot of fun because I hadn't flew in a while and I got to hang around with the guys again. Manuel Campos flew a demo during the noon time demo flights by the pros and sponsered pilots. I met Finless Bob and Dongle, but didn't see any women flying. It was smaller than I thought it would be, probably because it was pretty far North of San Diego, in Fallbrook.

There is another fun fly that is actually in San Diego (Miramar Fun Fly) in July. I really, really, wanted to go. Unfortunately, that is the day my Cisco Cert test is scheduled for and I can't change it for a fun fly as I really need to get it done. I'm kind of bummed since I just found out the dates of the Miramar Fun Fly.

Oh well, I guess there is next year.

Lynne, when are you gonna be doing funnels? I want a video!!!

Funnels? I'm still trying to do them on the sim! And it's not a pretty sight. I think I will live vicariously through Courtney and Sarah.
I think we are going to try outside tomorrow. Mid-50's and 10-15mph winds. (Today we have gusts to 40) Might be a little cool for me but if the sun comes out that will help.

So far I've only conquered funnels going counter-clockwise. I'm right-handed.

In airplanes I favor most circle maneuvers going counter-clockwise as well. I guess that is my "strong side"? ie, for a roller circle, my prettiest ones are rolling right (outward) in a counter-clockwise circle. I can do them rolling left (outward) in a clockwise circle, but man I feel like I really have to focus hard. Don't even get me started about rolling inward on a rolling circle. I have to cross my eyes, stick out my tongue and hope and pray that those go decent.

Okay I wasn't going to whine about the weather but I am going to. Monday through Wed it was mid 90's and humid and gusty. Then today we had about an inch of rain in the morning and now it has been 52 all day and gusty. Tomorrow is supposed to rain all day. So either it is cold and damp and windy or hot and humid and windy and all in the same week.
Okay I'm done whining.
