Our field is pretty big though the nicest runway is for planks. Helis are on the left side and though we do have quite some space we have the end of the field and the road on our left and being at 90º to the main runway we are also limited to the right.

We are in the process of moving the installations which will end being parallel to the main and we'll have a huge space to both sides. On the first two pics you see the new facilities beginning construction 15 days ago. Behind is the current place, we fly left to right, on the right is the road on the left is the main runway as seen in the picture which is from the end of the field.

I had 12 nice flights today, slowly raising the load on my new Billowy packs.
I have one problem, my TDR is vibrating sometimes in hover at 1370-1430 RPM.
It seems it is a bit better on lower HS.
To get out of it, shaking a collective a bit calms the heli down.
I replaced the dampening o-rings with new ones about 20 flights back and did not lubed them much.
Strange thing is this was not happening with Radix FBL i had borrowed, but does happen with white SpinBlades.
They are balanced, that is not causing it.

The head is 2010 fixed conversion with 2x black rings/white inserts.
I guess it is too hard.
Anyone have the same experience?

Hi Jointer - this is exactly why the wobble-head was introduced. If you increase the head speed a bit, it will likely go away.
I have since gone back to the rocker head on my TDRs - the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages (if any)

The thing is i upped the throttle 1% to have about 1420RPM and it was worse.
So i went down 1% and at about 1380RPM it seems better.
I know the issue is there, but i can really feel the better precision of fixed head.
Maybe the heavier Radix FBL made more force so it was flying perfectly at 1400RPM...
Will see, maybe it will settle as the rings wear out.

Well, i tried to get rid of it.
Changing Vbar gain in range 80-92 had no influence, so i tried to go up with throttle to 1430RPM, it was worse every time i stepped up, so i went down and ended somewhere 1340-1350.
Now, totally stable in normal hover and sometimes very tiny bit of nervosity in inverted hover, which could be cured by using some gentle radio input.
Maybe play on the servos and links and not perfect blade tracking (half turn of blade link is too much) and vibrations from my damned Pyro have all influence on this.
Keep in mind the machine have over 600 starts with minimum parts replaced.
But, again - this was not happening with Radix FBL and the same condition of the TDR.

I had wonderful 14 flights this afternoon, trying to get my skills perfect.
I was 80% of the time at this low headspeed and i must say every 10 RPM down are noticable, but together with the new Billowy 5200 packs, there is also noticable gain in power at all headspeeds.
I was able to use only about 1700mAh per 6 minute flight, so in case i would want, 14 minutes of figure 8, loops, flips, even slow side tictocs/rainbows would be possible.

But, i got one wild flight, 1750 RPM doing almost only tictocs, 3800mAh consumed after 6 minutes, JLog says the temp in the Jive reached 92 degrees...
(no fan, no duct, low heatsink)
The motor was 75 inside and so was the Jive on the heatsink.

And the last observation is the PWM reached max 98%, but the RPM drops down to 1650RPM in spike.
Only Vbar gov will be probably able to cure that, because i have -Smooth +P and +I set in the Jive...

Well, i hope this info will help so some new TDR owners (or the old ones can compare the experience).

Nice.
But i expect it will end like mine - that HPI Firestorm in my signature is sitting in the self collecting dust.
I bought it about 2 years ago, plan was using old reassembled packs from T500 in it.
That was fine, but i hated cleaning the car after every ride, i also thought i will use it in winter, but that means more dirt and snow... i have two Turnigy packs for it now and they have 2 cycles... somehow not fun for me.
And i bought RaydioWarm mitt for the winter, so if i really want to fly, it could be done.
Have fun, i wish it will last.

I bought it locally, because one small shop here do have them.
But it is possible to buy them directly:
http://www.raydiowarm.com/new_mitts.htm
It is working well, but some users modify the internal structure with CF rods.
Depends also on the radios.
From what i seen, much better then that cheap Turnigy from HK or similar products.

Strange thing, one pilot told me his wife liked how my TDR is flying.
He was surprised, because never thought she could like something from this hobby.
I do not know if he is flying planes or helis, but i guess he need to get a TDR now.

I think you have the key to a long marriage. As long as she KNOWS that she comes first and helicopters are just a hobby, I don't expect you will ever have a problem buying whatever toy that grabs you attention. Just remember the dream wedding is just the beginning

You guys said it best, put her first and she'll have no worries with the Heli. I'm putting the finishing touches on our wedding in November and then the TDR build if I get my ESC back from K.

If I do get it built she said to bring it on the honeymoon!!!
