Go BL immediately or after first motor burn?
T-minus 3 days until I can get my Nano from under the tree. I was thinking about flying it until I burn through the first motor and then convert to the mild BL kit. Should I do this or just go immediately and keep the motor as a spare?
What are you guys with new nanos doing?

Fly it stock until your motor burns. There is not a huge difference and unless you already have a mild kit you are going to have to wait until they are back in stock.
Either way, enjoy your new nano |

Ha! I bought the mild kit before I bought the Nano! I saw them in stock and just grabbed one. It's my first BL conversion so am looking forward to the learning experience.

Haha you are a smart man grabbing that kit when you could. I still say blow up your stocker first. I loved my nano with stock brushed motor it was great. Only reason I converted to brushless was because I wasn't paying $12 every 3 weeks for a new motor. Have fun!

The stock motor is probably useless as a spare unless you can sell it to someone. So burn it up and then go brushless.

Sell the brushed motor.
Unless you have another nCPx that needs the brushed motor like I did. Now I am waiting to get my 2nd wild BL nano kit from Dylan. I might be the one who needs your motor if Dylan doesn't get the kit soon Joke! I can wait for Dylan a long time before I buy another disposable motor. Too many other birds to fly.

Fly it at least a few batteries so you will know the feeling of stock, and then convert it to brushless.

id fly it stock. That way if you have any problems you still have a warranty. Plus youll get to fly it first in case you mess something up when you convert it.

I recommend 1 B/L and 1 stock. With B/L it's a different beast (Mild kit), and it works best with a higher HS. So I like to use the stock for really confined spaces.

It seems like the brushless with more power and head speed would be better in tight places because it would flip in one place easier and not drop after a flip is executed. Stock flips pretty decent 1 time but to continuously flip It would eventually bog down to the ground.

Burn up the stock motor, and you'll appreciate the brushless even more so!
I'm still waiting to get my hands on the wild kit! ARRRRRRGH!

If you fly with the stock first, hoping it will die so you can go brushless. Chances are, it will never die. Such is the forces of the universe at work. Go figure. LOL

Maybe it's me or just the cold weather, but I started a couple of fresh packs on the stock setup and was practicing flips. Toward the end, I was getting a TON of motor bogging and would have to give near full collective to climb out of the flip. I'm *most* looking forward to the extra torque of the BL setup. I'm approximately 30 flights in with the stocker.

The stocker is definitely slack on HP.

mr weasel
I'd go bl straight away , when my second ncpx had it's motor fail at three days old and maybe 35 flights it blew the 3-1 board as well. I've had three ncpx now and they have all had main motors fail before 50 flights. I've just fitted the mild bl
kit and its awesome. Kit supplied by Dylan at asteroid. |
