Default Mikado Servo arms

There is a discussion going on in the Goblin forum about the Mikado servo arms breaking on the 770 and the consensus seems to be (At least for SAB pilots) that the Mikado arms aren't strong enough for the 770.

I was wondering if maybe Kyle or Dave had experianced any problems with the 800 running these arms?? I know when I crashed my XX I had to replace the arms with just standard Mikado arms (Those that didn't come with the kit) because the ones that come with the kit aren't available

Is this something I should be worried about?? Is there a metal arm that would work with the big logo??

Has anybody running the XX had any kind of similar failure (To your knowledge)

Thanks!!

Hello,

First of all mine are doing fine.
I've read somewhere that the Kit and the "in Stock" ones are the same except the bigger middle hole being pre-drillend...do it yourself required.

Greetings

nebuchadnezza's right I think. The servo arms in the kits are the same as the regular Mikado arms, just with a larger hole in the arm for the ball link bolt.

For about 1/2 of 2011 when Kyle was flying the 800 as his primary ship, he used the stock arms. He never had a failure (and we know of no other failures either), but as the year progressed, and Kyle became more and more "in-tune" with the 800 and was pushing the model harder and harder, he began to think the arms were possibly flexing too much under extreme loads.

So he tried some metal servo arms, and he liked the results. So he has used metal arms on the 800 ever since. You can get metal arms for all the common servos out there.

I doubt the Goblin guys have a conspiracy against the Mikado arms...after all, they were using them to start with the belief they would be sufficient for the task. If they are reporting failures (taking them at their word), it's not out of the realm of possibility that with that application (head speeds used, blades used, combined with the type and style of flying), that the arms aren't enough.

I am absolutely confident the stock Mikado arms are sufficient for the 700, as that's all Kyle has used, never had a failure, and hasn't even seen the need to give metal arms a go. Kyle's pretty "in-tune" with the 700 at this point, and what's stock in the kit is good.
But if you're a really aggressive pilot flying models larger than the 700, and the reports make you nervous, then by all means go the beefier arms.

Yeah I never thought the SAB guys were conspiring I just thought that maybe the Goblin head design put more pressure on the servo arms than Mikado's and that was the reason they were experiancing failures.

I think I will order the quick UK Logo arms just to be on the safe side (I prefer to have way more than I need instead of just enough)
