Default 14SG convert plane to heli

Bought a used 14SG from another forum. Was told it was the heli version. Well, the throttle has notches. Of course he's not returning my emails.

I called Futaba. They gave me the part number HSP00501 Gimbal Center Set and told me to call TowerHobbies. Tower said to call Hobbico support. I've tried for two days. I get a recording that the person is busy and I cannot leave a message bc mailbox is full.

Anyone know where to get one? Google turns up nothing.

I would contact Futaba and say that you would love to purchase the part but none of their suppliers evidently wants to sell you one, could they possibly have the supplier support contact you, give a phone number where you can be reached. At least HH calls me back.

Called Futaba support. Was on hold for 20 minutes. Gave up and pressed 1 to leave a message. Can't leave a message because the mailbox is full! Getting a little frustrated. Sending an email now, but would love a better suggestion.

Open the back of the radio, find the throttle ratchet and either flip it upside down, or put a piece of nitro fuel tube over it. Takes 5 minutes and you have a smooth throttle.

Thank you. I think this will work. Added some grease and messing around with the tension. I appreciate the help.

Interesting, I have talked to Futaba service twice on the phone today.....

Had to hold for about 5 minutes each time, but got through.

Also. A while back they did just ship me out one of those parts you are looking for. Didnt charge me a dime.

I've called 3 times. Got through once almost immediately. That's when they told me to call Tower. The other times were long hold and voicemail full.

Just received the parts. I must be having a difficult day. Can't figure out how this works. Not in the manual. I know the small plastic piece slides in the slot on the right with the screw but not sure what else the spring connects to and where the large plastic piece goes.

These parts are to make the stick self center and should be already fitted. There should also be a cradle that fits over the gimble to push the return/centering mechanism down and a shoe to fit over the ratchet.

In my tx the gimbal that is the throttle stick has a square plate covering it. There is a long peg that disengages the self centering springs.

I don't recognise the parts in the picture.

In addition to the shoe to cover the ratchet there is also a flat spring that rides against the ratchet instead of the plane one which has a v shape at the end to engage in the ratchet.

Thanks for the help. Below is a video I found. They didn't send me the square cover thing or the smooth metal piece in the video.

It looks like Futaba sent you the parts to make your throttle automatically self-center...

If that was your intention, you don't need the square plastic cover or smooth metal piece to make your gimbal self-center. As a matter of fact, from what I understand, the 14SG and 8FG's outside of the U.S. come with that square cover to intentionally disengage the self-centering feature (since it's pre-installed). Because of that, people outside of the U.S. have it MUCH easier when it comes to modifying their radios to self-center. All they have to do is remove that square plastic cover and VOILA! Unfortunately, in the U.S. we have to figure this out on our own and track the part down without much direction or insight from Futaba. I'm still trying to track down part number HSP00501 to convert my radio, and I'm hoping my local hobby shop can get their hands on it for me.

This should clarify things a bit. Check it out...

Futaba Self Centering Throttle Mod & Smooth Sliders - That HPI Guy (5 min 7 sec)

If you're not wanting self-centering, and you just want the transmitter to function with a smooth normal throttle, then you definitely got the wrong part. If for some reason you don't need those parts, I would GLADLY purchase them from you. Please let me know. Thanks!
