Default Kosmik 160 and fan heat sink install

Hi guys just got the electric fan heat sink because my kosmik 160 is running a little hot on my goblin 700. My question is do I use the supplied double sided tape or something else to attach the heat sink. Saw something called artic silver but it said permanent. Was hoping I could find something locally like at a computer/electronic store. Thanks in advance mike

Artic silver is the way to go. The Electrical tape is not heat conductive. Artic Silver is an epoxy with a high silver % that will conduct heat. If you use the adequate amount you still can remove it.

If you buy the OEM Kontronik fan (it's overpriced) you get a thin double sided thermal transfer tape with it. I had also bought some double sided thermal tape (used for inside PCs) before the fan arrived.

The supplied double sides adhesive thermal pad is pretty good. it is not as good as arctic silver but it isn't permanent where arctic silver is unless you are referring to the non adhesive type and in that case it is almost impossible to get the heatsink to be locked in position above it. any movement and you can introduce air bubbles and it becomes useless.

The included pad is good. Dropped my temps 10*C after installing.

I used the included pad. Coupled with a canopy "speed hole" I dropped almost 20°C.
