Default Why 7-channel for a TRex 550, 600, or 700?

I currently have a TRex 450 Pro with a Spektrum DX6i and in the near future am looking to pick up a 550E or a 600E. Can I run the 550E or 600E with my 6-channel Tx? Do I need to buy a 7-channel Tx if I upgrade? If so, why do I need the extra channel? Thanks guys!

550E will be fine with the DX6i. You don't need 7 channels

The 7th channel would be in case you have an engine with a governor fitted and you want remote access to that. For those electrics, you need only 6.

But now, it seems that with the new T-Rex 550E DFC we need a 7-channel transmitter and a 7-channel receiver.
This is what is written in the spec on align web site:

http://www.align.com.tw/shop/product...oducts_id=4550

I don't know why this 7th channel is used to (governor ? but ESC seems to have only one connector for receiver...)
