Just be carefull on your throttle curves if you have 6s , 13t, because 90% at 0 pitch could exceed the maximum head speed which is around 2650. The manual states 85% to be around 2630 which is very close, so depending on your blades and setup you could end up with a headspeed that might damage something.

also 5s, 15t could get very close to max headspeed with 90% at 0 pitch....

I ran 100 flat on my 500L motor and I run 90 flat on my Scorpion 1600. I didn't bother taching it which is silly since my friend and I are both point for point on setups and we usually tach everything.

Default grounding?

hi all
i,m getting a 500 for xmas,yoppie
i hear a lot about (grounding)the wire to the boom,
why is this done and is this a must mod?
is this due to the static build up? i had lots of probs with my 450 with like what i think was static build up,but i ws useing ppm,now i have a dx7 pcm and its gone no probs
i,m going to use s9257 with metal gear upgrades for the cyclic thay can run at 5,5 bec i believe, any help would be really nice

well, i am not a very experienced pilot, the only things i have done against static atm is i have soaked my belt in silicon oil and i also have the metal tail case which doesnt seem to build up as much static as the plastic one, cos its more open and ofc metal. but there are quite a few threads here where ppl explain how to do the mods and i guess ppl wouldnt do them, if they didnt have problems ... btw i fly a dx7 too and had no probs at all yet.

it should solve the problem since the static is caused by the belt... nevertheless i would take a good look how the cost and the part availability for the torque tube is in amsterdam since i read a few ppl had to go back to belt drive and will stick with it, cause the couldnt get enought replacement parts and also the costs are pretty high compared to just a belt crash.

cos mostly you can replace many more parts, so if you are a good flyer with not many crashes or dont care about money and can get your hands on a torque tube and the replacement parts you might want to consider it.

so also when you choose your servos or other parts, make sure you can get replacement parts like gear and new boxes before you buy them, otherwise you sit there without replacement parts after a crash...

Boddan, nice work. A lot of people have spent weeks of researching for what they need to get a trex 500 up and running the way they want it. Like most people here have said and will agree, you have basically summed most things up and it should save new buyers alot of time and effort.

you forgot the JR Z3650 for the cyclics

great servos

they're metal gear too

its like a 9257 with the torque of a 9650 and gear strength of a 5245 without case breakage
