Default Gassers

Some people think that gassers don't fly 3D, its just loops and rolls, sport flying....I've heard this before but disagree with that statement, when I need a good laugh I just tell my friends on the field while I'm flying:

"I don't do 3D, its just loops and rolls, that's all!

Yea, I've been there before, I just let them go on and on. Then I pull out my heli and 3D it...the look on their face says it all, I just walk away not saying a word.

I had 2 clowns boosting about how awesome my Trex 600N was, while my Aurora was sitting on my tailgate waiting its turn. They claimed my Aurora was crap and wouldn't fly better than my Trex 600N. I asked who feed them all this bad info.... Then I pulled out my Aurora and "hammered" on it! Once again, the look on their faces was enough. They tried to say something, but I stopped them and just walked away. They shadowed me for half the day...drooling!

Yep...happens at most events I attend each year. On the net, I refer people to all the videos of Predator gassers, Radikal G20 & G30 gassers that are all doing some pretty impressive 3D.

Radikal G30 v.2 w/HWC 3D Extreme Pro 29 (4 min 43 sec)

or one of the older Predator GS using just the stock Zenoah G231!! (P.S. showing this video in the gasser forum on RR got me banned,)

Pred Gas 231 (3 min 50 sec)

or this one:

Radikal G20 mild 3D flight pilot Epkencijus (10 min 19 sec)

Note that some of these where from many years ago!!!

At the time, on the gasser forum on RR, everyone seemed to be under the impression that the gasser needed a "tweeked" engine to just do basic aerobatic flying. So I started a thread showing this video to show how well a gasser can perform using the relatively lowly Zenoah G231.

RCHN had some pictures from HeliD. I was looking for the engine myself. I didn't expect it to be from a big car engine company.

GO Engine makes it.

I'm not sure if that's the one they have in there, or if they got GO to make them a smaller one.

can anybody that knows more about gas engines tell how the engine works? I don't see a muffler pressure line, I see a vent line but doesn't look like its pumped?

Yep, good catch, its just open vented.

Maybe the muffler line was left off for the video fro some odd reason, or they might just be running it gravity/suction feed for initial tests? An engine, even a nitro, can run on plain old suction feed but its tricky and not terribly reliable in aerobatic flight as the mixture changes as orientation and g loading changes.

I though it was weird.. the first pics that came out had a muffler pressure line attached, the muffler on it doesn't even seem to have a nipple on it... hopefully we get more info soon
